    Masterson has done a great job for us....but considering the way Clay Buchholz is pitching I don't see how they don't bring him back up. Especially with a lefty-heavy Yankee lineup coming up next for Masterson (all HRs given up have been to LH I believe)

    I agree completely. As well as Masterson has done...Clay Buchholz is the superior pitcher and we are wasting innings for him in AAA. I would not let Masterson make his start against the Yankees as that lineup is composed of mainly left handed batters and Masterson stuggles against LH and dominates RH.

    Varitek killed the Red Sox today against the Astros going 0-3 leaving 4 men on base and looking lost at the plate. This is starting to get old.... I'm getting sick of having dead weight in the lineup between him and our singles extrordinare Julio Lugo. I don't have an answer for the Varitek situation but I want Jed Lowrie back. I also would like to find a way for Chris Carter to be in the lineup. Brandon Moss should be sent down to get more playing time and Manny should see more time in the field with Carter being the DH for the coming week against the Rays and Yankees.

    we need a setup guy....Okajima should be the second....lefty option out of the bullpen. I'd rather see Javier Lopez instead of Okajima and thats bad. Until Okajima figures out the splitter again....don't even think about bringing him into a big situation

    Hideki Okajima's success hinges on his splitter. From what I've seen that pitch hasn't been there like it was last season. If he can get that back then he can return to form.

    Speaking of Houston...they could be sellers come the trade deadline....Miguel Tejada would be a nice fit, unless we think Jed Lowrie should just take Lugo's spot.

    Last I read was Bean was going to the Dominican to "attempt" to sign him. He can't sign until July 2nd if I'm correct so I don't see anything set in stone at this time. I know the Yankees and Mariners are also players so we shall see. I haven't seen the Red Sox mentioned but that doesn't mean there aren't things happening in the background. These international signings have very limited coverage, it's hard to get a read on whats really happening. This is the first scouting report I've found on Inoa and he's been talked about for a few months now.

    I haven't seen a thread on this so called "once in a decade talent" so here it is. I read a nice scouting report on this 16 year old phenom if anyone wants to check it out: http://www.saberscouting.com/2008/06/26/michelinoareport/ I have yet to see the Red Sox mentioned as a potential suitor but I guess that doesn't mean a whole lot. As for the money is sounds like 4-6 million. If I'm the Red Sox thats small potatoes for what could be a "potential" stud pitcher in several years. They talk about this kid like Felix Hernandez who I believe the Mariners did a poor job bringing through the system. With all the success the Red Sox minor league system has had with young pitchers this is an ideal environment for him to grow and develop. So...do whatever it takes to get him or is this just all talk??

    I can see Chris Smith being our "Kyle Snyder" this season where he can keep us close and add some inning when the starters faulter. The rotation is so good though that those chances will be scarce so he could excel in that role. His curve and changeup are very good and I'm sure he can get by with those. He should be taking Mike Timlin's role. Papelbon is the closer and Delcarmen has cemented himself as the setup man. Craig Hansen will continue to improve this season and should be able to put it all together toward the end of the year. The left handers are what make me uneasy though. I think Okajima should be where Javier Lopez is and Lopez should probably not be on this team. That said I would love to have a lefty that can be a setup-type in Brian Fuentes. He's been a closer and setup man before and had success in both cases. I'm always nervous about bringing in pitchers from the NL not to mention the west coast. If the Mets continue to fall off I wonder if Billy Wagner would be made available.

    We have any prospects worth a damn? I don't think we have anything to contribute this season but whats the story with Luis Exposito, Mark Wagner, Dusty Brown, and George Kottaras?? Anything of them have a chance to amount to something?? I think we should be looking for a catcher....not necessarily a prospect but someone who is walking into their prime years. Perhaps hasn't exploded yet but could, like Ryan Doumit who was brought up last night
