  1. When I first read his stats consisting of 5 IP with a 9.00 ERA I knew I was missing something... then I saw that his one start was against Baltimore which is understandable considering how we played against them this past year. The guy is 23, but I'm hoping there are some good stats that I am unable to find somewhere. [Edit: There are some great stats. While playing for the Portland Sea Dogs in '04 he received 3 awards (2004 Portland Sea Dogs most valuable pitcher (fans), 2004 Portland Sea Dogs pitcher of the year & 2004 Eastern League All-Star.) He was an outstanding pitcher at Long Beach State and at Portland this past season had a record of 10-9 with a 3.66 ERA.]
  2. I think that who wrote that was being a little more hopeful than thoughtful. I hate the Yankees, but I sure wouldn't put money against them in the regular season when it comes to winning the AL East. And if I did think they would finish in second it wouldn't be close between the Yanks and O's. I've seen and heard all about the moves the Orioles have made, but they won't win the wild card.... just yet.
  3. Winner: Patriots Score: 24-14 MVP: Brady Anything else you may want to predict: The commercials should be good ;-)
  4. Oh boy, it's not JUST a ball! It's THE ball. It's the ball thats ended generations of torment! And some guy that no one knows how to spell his name, that was here for half a year, that contributed practically nothing (well atleast not much) is going to get to keep the ball. Do you want the ball to be in Boston or Cooperstown where it should be? Or do you want it in New York City up in Minky's closet?
  5. It's so dumb to change the name for corporate business unless it's a decent sounding name. In Arlington where the Rangers play the ballpark used to be named "The Ballpark in Arlington" which sounds perfectly fine. Then b/c it's all about the $$$ came the changing of the name to "Ameriquest Field." Bull**** I tell you! Bull****!

  7. One of the toughest places to play college football definitely has to be Kyle Field home of the Fightin' Texas Aggies. Holds 82,000 and is arguably the loudest stadium on any given Saturday.
  8. The deal isn't done quite yet, but here's the story on the possible trade for anyone who would like to read it.... http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=1975414
  9. how about these for old times sake... ;-) http://www.teamtimesports.com/123/1986bostonroad.jpg
  10. Found this over at the Sons of Sam Horn website so I thought I'd share. Here's the link... http://p086.ezboard.com/fsonsofsamhornbostonredsox.showMessage?topicID=14891.topic
  11. ....and the deal is officially done. The Astros work out a 1-year, $18M dollar deal.
  12. ("You guys" being sports fans in Boston) First he makes it clear clear that he's supporting Bush, NOW someone tell me that I didn't see him on television with a Pittsburgh Steelers jersey on.
  13. Glad to see these two players back (maybe this shows that we aren't actually trying to form a completely new team)....and especially glad to see that it looks like Bellhorn will get the full-time job at second.
  14. I agree with everyone as far as the amount is too much, but Clemens led the Astros to their first ever NLCS and had a W-L record of 18-4 with an ERA just shy of three (2.98)....Randy Johnson was 16-14 with an ERA of 2.60 (although you can argue the fact that he didn't have anyone behind him to help out). As far as Petey goes, Clemens clearly had a better year.....Pedro had his worst year in a Sox uniform this last year (having an ERA just under four) and he seems to not have much left. In my opinion right now Clemens is the better player out of the three. Think about it....Clemens was an All-Star and the National League Cy-Young winner.
  15. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=1969777 This should get interesting.....the Astros offered Clemens $13.5M, I follow the Astros and I know that I don't think the 'stros are going to put out an offer any higher. This is now the highest figure ever submitted for arbitration. (The highest figure before this was $18.5M by Derek Jeter in 2001) Is Clemens worth it? Discuss amongst yourselves.
  16. Oh, no you didn't offend me...it's a damn funny video, funny to watch it again.
  17. Guess you don't read the General Off Topic chat in here, huh... http://www.talksox.com/forum/showthread.php?t=2119
  18. Allen Fieldhouse at the University of Kansas
  19. They didn't bring him in because they have brains, (or atleast some) who wants to spend that kind of money for a fielder that isn't as great as he is hyped up to be. Don't get me wrong....Beltran is an outstanding player but no way he deserves a 7-yr contract for $119M. (I saw him play down here, I know what I'm talking about) This move will hurt the Mets in the long run...but I guess their not worried about success in the long run, they just want success soon. If I was the Mets I'd be tired of being second-tier to the Yankees also.
  20. Are you sure that money isn't from when they had fans pay to get their picture with the World Series Championship trophy back in '96? Just kidding, I think it's great that the Yanks are doing that.
  21. So is anyone who loves the game of baseball.
  22. "Mientkiewicz is probably the 21st most important person on the team" --Pardon the Interuption Just give that damn ball back, c'mon.
  23. Hate to tell you 2090, but no one in baseball is afraid of the Yanks anymore.
  24. Houston Astros
  25. This trade shouldn't even be considered. V-Tek is back and is a captain of our team, period.
