Had the misfortune of having to watch the game on Comcast Sports from Baltimore. Some stupid mistakes they made that made me realize how great it is to watch NESN 99% of the time: "Matt Damon in Center Field...excuse me, Johnny Damon." "...as Randy Johnson on opening day beat the Yankees." Then the last mistake that I cought of pronouncing Matt Mantei's last name wrong.
Hopefully MLB Extra Innings has the game on NESN tomorrow. Great outing for Boomer tonight....I've underestimated him. Also to mention, good hitting by the Red Sox order tonight. Everyone that started had a hit except Big Papi, I believe.
Don't worry...our team is nicknamed "idiots", but that's what everyone in the league thinks about yankees fans, also. Yankee fans will argue it, but we have more class and brains than they do....you don't boo Rivera, that's stupid.
Wow....since I've posted this topic, I've thoughts about buying that hat (pictured on my first post) and a Portland Sea Dogs shirt and still haven't done it yet.
You guys have to remember that he was 99% sure he was going to retire after last season. Houston is his home, and I think no matter what happens at the end of this year, he retires. He won't leave mid-season to go somewhere else....he'll stay with the Astros.
You know one thing I don't get....why didn't we try to set up our rotation where we are pitching ATLEAST one reliable guy in one of the two games against the Orioles? (Wells pitches tomorrow, Clement on Thursday). We could have used Wells and Clement vs. the Blue Jays and saved Schilling and Arroyo for the birds. Hopefully the Sox put up some run support for these guys.
The Yankees have NOTHING. Starting pitching, relief pitching, hitting, hitting in clutch positions. Enjoy fighting with the Devil Rays this year for the shot at being the 2nd worst team in the AL East.
I didn't get to see the end of today's game, but I was watching where he nearly blew it in Toronto...I'm not sure what he's doing wrong. The only game I missed so far this year was when he gave up that walkoff HR to Jeter...he's not Mariano Rivera though, he'll get back on track.
I think the starting rotation will have to include Wells. Not that I would agree to it, considering when you look at everyone's numbers (see link in sig) but that's why we signed him....so that's unfortunately where I think he'll be. Wakefield and Arroyo both are pitching great in the rotation, so in my opinion it wouldn't be fair or a very good decision to move them to the pen.
How did Tampa Bay put up 8 runs against the 'great' *snicker* Yankee pitching staff? Nevermind, the Yankees are overrated bastards that enjoy looking up at the TORONTO BLUE JAYS in the standings. Good luck holding off the Rays again tomorrow.
Current AL East standings, brought to you buy talksox.com
AL East W L PCT. GB:
Orioles 8 4 .667 -
Red Sox 8 5 .615 0.5
Blue Jays 8 6 .571 1.0
Devil Rays 4 8 .333 4.0
Yankees 4 8 .333 4.0
Yankees suck.
Good preformance today by Wake, hopefully we play as well against the Blue Jays as we did against Tampa Bay. I'm already mad though, that I won't get to see tomorrow's game on NESN since it's a morning game on a weekday. Damn Patriots day.
It'll be nice to have Miller back, can't wait to see how he pitches...
BTW element, how do you get your sig line like that where it shows the words instead of the url. I've been trying to figure that out because I did it before, I just can't figure out how to now.
Personally, I think a key series (atleast for April) coming up is at Baltimore...we struggled against them last year, and I think we'll need to win the season series against them this year to have a shot at winning the division.
We'll probably put up 4 or 5 runs today....I think we win about 5-3. Kazmir was a very good pitcher in high school, and though this is the majors, I still think he pitches well today.
