  1. I know why they didn't. It doesn't make it the right move. Start your best pitchers in the most games. Hell, if it's so important to matchup with Lee, why not start CC in Game 3? Answer: Because you go with your best pitchers in the most games.
  2. Shouldn't have been starting the game in the first place. The Yankees made their decision based on a 15.1 IP sample size. So stupid. Start your best pitchers in the most games, and no matter Hughes did in the ALDS, Pettitte is better.
  3. Hughes was reaching 95 with his FB when he was in trouble in the first. I hope he didn't gas himself there. With his pitch count already way up, he won't be long for this game.
  4. The Rangers only put one ball in play against Hughes (a weaker chopper), and score a run. The Yankees hit three balls very well in the second, and get no runs. Hope this luck changes.
  5. Softest run ever. Infield single off Hughes' glove, a walk against Hamilton when he probably should have had him struck out, and a terrible decision by Posada.
  6. No, Cruz was out. Anyway, that was some comeback. I don't necessarily think that taking out Wilson was a bad move, because he wasn't throwing the ball as well in the seventh and eighth as he was prior to that. I actually think you could make a case that he should have pulled him a batter earlier, before the Jeter double. But I think he has to go to Feliz at some point in the eighth inning, while the Rangers still had the lead. There are a couple concerns from tonight. CC looked horrendous (never seen him with that little fastball control), and this is coming off a very mediocre start in the first round and a few poor starts in September. And I know he got the job done tonight, but Kerry Wood really can't be trusted with a slim lead late in the game. He just doesn't have enough control, and it's going to cost them eventually.
  7. Do you believe that outing last year is at all relevant to his upcoming ALCS start?
  8. Hughes pitched one inning at Texas this year. And the odds of getting to a Game 7 are very slim. You pitch your best pitchers as much as possible, and worry about Game 7 if it gets that far. It's not like they're lining up Sergio Mitre to start a potential seventh game anyway...
  9. Interestingly enough, I think we just saw one as good (if not better) in a do or die game for both teams, no less. Point being, I don't remember the last time there has been this many excellent pitchers in one postseason.
  10. I'd consider this as well, but they would never just forfeit a game. The rotation that I wanted was Sabathia, Pettitte, Hughes, Sabathia, Burnett, Pettitte, Hughes. But if they really don't want to start CC on short rest then I would go with Sabathia, Pettitte, Hughes, Burnett, Sabathia, Pettitte, Hughes.
  11. I understand that they feel more comfortable pitching Hughes on the road than at home, and that they want to line Pettitte up with Lee. So there is an argument to it. But, in these situations, I think you have to go with the simplest solution, and that is lining up your best starters to pitch the most games.
  12. Really not happy that Hughes may get more starts in the series than Pettitte.
  13. Well then I hope your bets pay off lol.
  14. Who are you putting your money on?
  15. Cliff Lee in Game 3 followed by AJ Burnett in Game 4 scares me. That could easily be back to back losses at home.
  16. It's worth noting that there's a possibility Pettitte and Hughes will be flipped. Also, I'm very disappointed that they're not going with CC on short rest.
  17. I could see him going back to the Rays. No one is going to pay him, and, from what I've heard, he loves playing there.
  18. I think the Rangers are the only other team with a legitimate shot. They just signed a huge television contract, and will have the first chance to negotiate with him. But that's probably about it. Anyway, I think Washington would be inviting the Rays back in the game if he went to Feliz in the ninth. Stick with your ace.
