Well if Michael Kay said it it must be true! Duh! You might be right, but you're complaining about the wrong guy. Christian has spent most of his time in the minors. His lack of fundamentals (if that's what you're going to call it) should be blamed on himself and minor league instructors. Believe me, I'm far from Joe Girardi's biggest fan, but in this case you're blaming the wrong person.

Alright, look, I think a lot of the Yankee fans that go to the games are stupid but who gives a s*** about the curtain calls. I always remember this being discussed on this forum. Who cares. A lot of the fans that go to the games are hypocritical, but again, who cares if they give the guys curtain calls more frequently than in other stadiums. It really doesn't matter in the least.

Well, tough loss. Nothing else to say. As for Mo pitching in non-save situations...I know that it has become common for him to give up a run but I think it's purely coincidence. In most of these situations he really hasn't pitched poorly. He doesn't beat himself by walking people (5 walks this year) and usually it's maybe one solid hit and then another soft hit. He never (IIRC) gives up more than one run whenever he is scored upon. It's too bad, but you have to keep throwing him out there. Ponson vs. Greinke tomorrow. Tough to stay positive but we'll see what happens. Oh, and I'm really looking forward to seeing Pavano at some point. By the way, I realize this post is probably going to be ignored (especially by the Yankee fans) because of the theme of this thread (that the Yankees season is over) but I figured I'd post it anyway.

You know, that's a good point. But here's the thing. I bet if Joe Torre was still managing he would play Pudge, Jose Molina, and Sidney Ponson in the outfield! Oh my god. Imagine how slow that outfield would be?!?! Thankfully Torre is not managing. Phew. What a f***ing idiot that ******* was. So be thankful we have Girardi, otherwise you would have two catchers and a fat starting pitcher in the outfield everyday. And even for a catcher Molina moves pretty slow. Here's what it comes down to, in terms of the argument that has been going on here (not the one about Moose). Gom, you are the definition of a spoiled Yankee fan. The team makes the postseason every single year, and one year it doesn't look good and you abandon the team and kill Cashman for not trading away all his prospects. I would have done the Santana deal, but man, it really is Yankee fans like you that make the rest look so bad to everyone else. It is not their f***ing destiny to make the postseason every year. Jacko, Corey Webster will play at the other corner along with Aaron Ross. As for making up for Strahan, a lot of that will depend on how healthy and effective Kiwanuka is. Before he got hurt he was showing significant improvement at linebacker, but his biggest strength is rushing the passer (whether it is from the linebacker position or as a linemen). I know Strahan is great, and it would be impossible to completely replace him, but what they lost with him they hope to gain with having a healthy Kiwanuka. And, of course, this gives Justin Tuck the opportunity to play every down. As for the offense, losing Shockey will probably hurt, but I do like Kevin Boss. He's not Shockey, but he's a big target for Eli with really good hands. But I think the biggest strength of the offense will be on the ground. The trio of Brandon Jacobs, Ahmad Bradshaw, and Derrick Ward has the potential to be deadly if they are all used correctly. But obviously, the offense goes as Eli goes and the big question is whether he has completely turned the corner.

Yeah, these are a lot of fun to read. I think it's cool that so many different teams are liked by members of this forum.

No. It's Joe's fault that he waited to go to Rivera. If he was OK with going to him for two outs than why not just go to him for all three. Instead you let Marte pitch you into a jam, and then have to go to Rivera to get out of it. Just go to him to start the inning if you're going to go to him. As for the grand slam, again, Girardi didn't make him give it up, but he should not have faced Byrd. It was a bad spot for him, and they had people in the bullpen better prepared to handle it in my opinion. However, I agree with you last statement, in general. EDIT: But managers have the job to put their players in spots where they are more likely to succeed.

Exactly. If he's committed to using Rivera in the ninth then go to him to start the inning. And Gom, hoping to get lucky is not a good strategy for a MLB manager.

If you're going to pitch Rivera in the ninth inning, on the road, in a tie game, don't wait for someone else to put runners on base. That was ridiculous. Make the change before trouble starts instead of after it starts.
