  1. You were talking to all Yankee fans, not just Gom. Those were your words. I was trying to make a point. I have never insulted you. I did not deserve to be insulted, and I was not supporting Gom. You're treating Gom and I as if we're the same person. We aren't. Not only aren't we the same person but I never even took Gom's side. Before you left I was debating this issue on my own, not backing any other posters. If you want to insult me for no reason, be my guest, I just still don't understand at all where that came from.
  2. I'm not ruling it out at all, and I believe it is possible. In a later post you made a comment about the truth. It appeared to me, and I could be wrong, that you believed you had sufficient evidence to state that Randazzo made the call because of the donation. Look, it's possible that he did that. But there was no way for him to know that the game was going to come down to his call. If he wanted to make sure that he was going to help the Yankees he would have swung a couple of calls their way earlier in the game. He wouldn't have waited until one of the final batters.
  3. With the disgrace comment, you said it to all Yankee fans, not just Gom. Because of that I figured you were talking about their favorite team cheating. Whatever, not that big a deal. As for the masturbation comment, I don't understand that at all. First off, this is the Yankee game thread, not the thread where you and Gom were fighting. I've shown nothing but respect to you and every other poster on this board. And please show me where I supported Gom in the flame war... I don't have thin skin, and the insult itself does not bother me, I just don't understand at all where that came from. This thread is not filled with pages of you and Gom fighting. I didn't interrupt any flame war between you to. I just did not see why you insulted me, especially with something that has absolutely nothing to do with me.
  4. http://www.talksox.com/forum/damn-yankees/10928-yanks-acquire-nady-marte-bucs-4-prospects-8.html Post # 120 As for the relevance, there is more talk of the Yankees playing outside the rules in this thread, so I figured I would address all of the posters here who are making these claims. And what's with the masturbation comment?
  5. I really doubt that they sign Strahan, and if they do I trust the coaching staff not to put him out there until he is really ready to play. This is a lesson they learned from the first few games last year, and I'm sure they'll remember it.
  6. Well, you do have a point lol, I am trying to be optimistic as a fan, although I think I might have a reason for it. Osi and Strahan played most the downs, while Tuck was used on the inside (mostly on passing downs). For the most part, Osi and Strahan were not part of a rotation. The rotation mainly took place for the DTs (Barry CoField, Fred Robbins, and Jay Alford). Just pointing that out. Now we have no idea if the other guys are going to be able to handle their new rules, so I'll reserve judgement on that one. However, that won't stop me from predicting. Justin Tuck is going to play every down. That is a given. He has a lot of talent, but now with Osi out he'll probably be seeing a lot of double team. This will put the pressure on many of the other guys to perform. Kiwanuka will probably play mostly on passing downs if he is moved back to DE (because as you stated he's undersized). Renaldo Wynn and Dave Tollefson will also be rotated in and out, and what they contribute will be key. Now, believe me, you would be hard pressed to find a Giant fans that appreciated more what Strahan and Osi accomplished the last couple of years. However, they've been together for a few years now, so what changed last year that allowed the pass rush as a whole to take it to the next level? The answer, in my opinion, is Steve Spagnuolo. I'm not saying he's the next NFL genius, but I believe his blitz schemes had a lot to do with all the sacks last years. They still have talent and I think Spagnuolo will be able to take advantage of that. I want to say again though that losing Osi is a huge blow. He is far and away their best pass rusher, and his natural ability to get to the QB (regardless of the schemes) is a big loss. With half the secondary out him and Strahan took over the Dallas game last year, basically winning it themselves. They'll definitely miss that. All I'm saying is that I think they have some nice options in reserve.
  7. Here's the problem, and I think I've been fair throughout this whole thing about the playing field no being level (as in I've come in with an open mind and acknowledged good points), it's not necessarily the truth. Here's what you know: - Steinbrenner donated money to a museum owned by the family of the first base umpire - The first base umpire was making proper calls throughout the game - Gary Sheffield was called safe on a force play in the ninth inning, and if he had been called out the game would have ended - The throw beat Sheffield and he should have been called out, but the first base umpire got it wrong Here's what you don't know (and neither do I or any of us): - That the first base umpire's call in the ninth inning was influenced by the donation that Steinbrenner made I have no problem with you pointing these things out, but you should not refer to it as "truth". EDIT: And I address the main point of this post to anyone who is attempting to show that the Yankees are being helped out by anyone else. I have no issue with anyone you guys have said, and I think a lot of it makes sense, but you should not refer to it as a definite thing because it isn't. ORS stated that in one of the threads in "anything goes" (or something along those lines). JHB made a comment way back in the Nady thread about Yankee fans living with the disgrace. This is insinuating that you know for a fact that they are playing outside the rules, however you don't know this.
  8. a700, here's the thing about the call which I stated a few pages ago. After the strikeout the umpire pumped his fist signaling that the batter was out. He was wrong to do that, because the ball hit the ground before Pudge caught it, but if he had made the proper call at the time then Pudge would have just tagged the runner (or thrown to first) and he would have been out anyway. The Ump called him out initially, then when he realized with all of the other umps that the ball had hit the ground, they had to come up with something to call the batter out because it would have been unfair to the Yankees for him to have reached safely. Again, if the umpire had made the proper call initially there would be nothing to this. No one is pointing out that the umpire pumped his fist a few seconds after the last pitch signaling that the batter was out so I figured I would (for the second time considering my first post drew no responses and the topic is being further debated).
  9. Yeah, 26-6, I understand that you don't like him, but Kilo is definitely a positive contributor to this board.
  10. I'm not supporting the comment that 26-6 made, but ORS made the call in reference to only Rivera. I don't know what you mean by "those types of pitches" but from what ORS said it appeared to me like he was only talking about Rivera. ORS, I don't want to put words in anyone's mouth so please correct me if I'm wrong.
  11. If you're right about the rule, that's a great job of research. Well done.
  12. Not that anyone seems to care about it anymore, but this was a big win for the Yankees today. They needed nothing short of a sweep this weekend and they got it. Now they have some chance to make up some ground against Boston this week.
  13. Like I said in my post I was referring to the first part of his statement where he said the Giants season was over before it started with no hint of sarcasm. EDIT: By the first part I meant the entire first sentence, my bad, I didn't make that clear.
  14. Umenyiora is out for the year, which sucks, but I think it can be handled. He is arguably their best player, and was the number one reason why they were going to be able to deal with losing Strahan. However, they still have Justin Tuck taking over Strahan's spot and they can move Mathias Kiwanuka back to defensive end.
  15. However the umpire pumped his fist after the strikeout to signal that the batter was out. If he hadn't done that Pudge simply would have thrown the ball to first and Mora would have been out. It was the right call for the wrong reason. The umpire made the wrong call (when he signaled initially that Pudge caught it cleanly), but if he had made the correct call the batter would have been thrown out anyway. The umpires found a way out of it by calling Mora out of the baseline. Again, right call, but for the wrong reason.
  16. Switch A-Rod and Jeter... Cue the Yankee fans who are in love with the "intangibles"...
  17. I think Pavano pitches very well the rest of the season (this claim is supported by absolutely nothing).
  18. In terms of Tex, the Yankees have the exact same scenario. It truly isn't different at all. The New York part holds true and the big contract of a first basemen coming off the books holds true.
  19. Right because Gom represents all Yankee fans...
