  1. I love how a discussion about something like OBP is always countered by some kind of Billy Beane or Moneyball insult.
  2. Billy Beane's five playoff appearances, four division championships, and two one hundred win seasons aren't enough of a "winning program" for you Crunchy?
  3. Federer struggled in the round of 16 against David Ferrer at Cincinnati, but came through in the end. It would be nice to see him win a competitive hard court tournament heading into the US Open.
  4. The same Damon that was a key part in a Boston Red Sox championship?
  5. Might as well credit the source Gom... Lol, you even took the line about teammates and managers. This thread made me laugh. http://yankees.lhblogs.com/2009/08/19/one-of-the-best-bargains-in-baseball/ EDIT: And what did you want Cashman to do? Offer him arbitration? Considering you read the article, you'll know that wasn't an option. The market didn't go as Abreu and his agent thought it would, and, at the last minute, the Angels got lucky. It would be great to have Abreu, especially considering the money he is making, but the Yankees weren't going to get him for that price and Cashman hardly dropped the ball on this one.
  6. I completely disagree about Rivera. In my opinion, he is excellent when it comes to throwing to second and third as well. Think about this. After he made the errand throw to second, the next batter bunted as well. Rivera, not deterred at all after his poor throw to second, got the lead runner at third. As for the pitchers, it is almost always the catcher's call as to what base to throw to. The pitcher has his back to the runners, and he has no way of knowing which base to throw to. I guess this thread has now come full circle. EDIT: About Rivera, I understand my one example does not prove my point.
  7. The A's are terrible offensively, but it's nice to see CC continue to pitch well. Unfortunately, they actually might lose this series, because Gaudin vs. Anderson certainly does not favor them.
  8. Time for a big hit? EDIT: I'll take it. Casilla has thrown eight pitches, all for balls.
  9. Oh wow. Second night in a row. EDIT: Last night it was A-Rod who killed the Yankees. Tonight it looks like it's going to be Teixeira.
  10. Two run shot by Young!
  11. Unreal. There is no way the A's are going to be able to string together hits tonight against CC, yet they have two, two out solo HRs.
  12. Ugh, just took the lead 6-5 and threatening.
  13. Shockingly similar to Rivera's 8/4 save in Toronto. Both had nothing, and both somehow got it done.
  14. Oh common, we both know that was more of a fluke than anything else. You're going to tell me that they were significantly more nervous in the World Series than they were in the ALCS and ALDS, when they went 7-1? I'm not going to buy that.
  15. .251/.280/.382 Lets try to forget about the old Pudge, because he is long gone.
  16. Good for the Nationals. This one would have been pretty embarrassing if they hadn't gotten it done. I saw that Tate signed. Anyone know about Ackley? EDIT: Ackley signs.
  17. Awful loss. One of the worst of the entire season. A-Rod killed them tonight, and I'm concerned about what he's going to give them the rest of the year.
  18. The A's have a terrible lineup, but Burnett pitched a good game tonight. Swisher's terrible play, and two lapses from Burnett cost him tonight.
