  1. Well, when you're trying to make these points, you should at least be able to gets your facts straight. Posada only started two of the games. As for the Mitre part, he is awful. You cannot hold that against Posada. With all that being said, I made a comment in the Yankee Game Thread about how bad Posada was this series. However, how do you explain how well the Yankee pitchers did prior to last series when Posada was catching. If you want to blame him when things are going poorly, then, by your logic, you should credit him when things are going well.
  2. At least get your facts straight. And one of the games Posada started was with Sergio Mitre on the mound...
  3. Nice to see them really hit Buerhle. Hate to state the obvious, but CC needs to be better down the stretch. What's scary is his K numbers.
  4. Nice to see the Rangers finally losing. Even though he has struggled early, hopefully that is more than enough for King Felix.
  5. The first bases loaded walk was really unfortunate, especially because it really seemed to be the early turning point. http://www.brooksbaseball.net/pfx/numlocation.php?xml=http://gd2.mlb.com/components/game/mlb/year_2009/month_08/day_01/gid_2009_08_01_nyamlb_chamlb_1//pbp/pitchers/150359.xml&batterX=090801_154248&innings=yyyyyyyyy&s_type=3&sp_type=1&h_size=700&v_size=500 Regardless, the Yankees played horrible, and did not deserve to win. Just like the game on friday, it's hard to win when your starter gives you absolutely nothing. However, the bullpen has become a huge concern (mainly Coke and Aceves). I said on Thursday that the Yankees were about to go on one of their cold streaks, and it looks like that's exactly what's happening.
  6. True, although I'm going to disagree with the premise that they were smart not to acquire Washburn. Washburn is a lefty, which should help in Yankee stadium. But, more importantly, the drawbacks to Washburn do not outweigh the positives that he would bring, if you consider the Yankees situation. The fifth starter is Sergio Mitre, and they do not have a solution in AAA or coming off the DL. The fourth starter is Joba Chamberlain, and considering he appears to be coming up on an innings limit, his status is uncertain. Obviously I don't really know what the Mariners were asking for, or what ownership was willing to do in terms of taking on salary. However, in theory, bringing Washburn aboard makes sense in my opinion.
  7. What's your reasoning?
  8. Haha, thanks, although I cannot find comfort in the results of both games.
  9. So many stupid mistakes. Horrible game to be at. -Cano not covering second base on Beckham's sac-fly in the 2nd inning. -A-Rod briefly stopping on Matsui's two out double in the 3rd inning. -Posada throwing through on the double steal in the 7th inning. -A-Rod trying to stretch his single into a double in the 9th inning. Have to score one for Gom tonight. Posada, on back to back plays in the 7th inning, was really horrible. With all that being said, tonight is on Sergio Mitre. It's not like I expected anything more, but this is the issue the Yankees are going to have to deal with.
  10. Pete Abraham thinks that it will be Shelley Duncan that will go down tomorrow.
  11. Yeah, they've won both of this starts, but he didn't really have too much to do with it. He was better in his first start, but the fact that they're going to seemingly rely on Mitre as their fifth starter for the foreseeable future is a huge problem, in my opinion. As I stated in another thread, I'm very disappointed they didn't acquire a SP.
  12. The Holliday thing helped out the Red Sox just as much as it helped out the Yankees. EDIT: Actually, you could argue that it helped the Red Sox more. Red Sox faced the A's four times without Holliday, while the Yankees faced the A's three times without Holliday.
  13. 5 IP, 4 ER Against one of the worst offensive teams in the AL.
  14. Yankees get a break, as the White Sox are forced to start DJ Carrasco (who has been pitching out of the pen) instead of Clayton Richard tonight. Carrasco probably won't be able to go too deep in the game, and the Yankees should be able to put up some runs, which they're going to need with Mitre on the mound. The fact that A-Rod is struggling really concerns me, because of what tends to happen to the Yankees when A-Rod either struggles or is not in the lineup.
  15. Very disappointed that the Yankees did not acquire a back of the rotation starter.
  16. Yeah, I don't think this is going anywhere, and nothing is being accomplished. I guess we just view these actions very differently. I enjoyed the civil discussion, for what it's worth.
  17. Haha, well I would imagine that people who are actually fans of the team would be more upset about his lack of success than me.
  18. What Brett Myers' did, if guilty, is illegal. That is a completely different situation. Your problems with A-Rod (or at least what you've stated) are a stripper and his relationship with Madonna. Those actions should not be compared to what Brett Myers' did in any way.
  19. I doubt he thinks results are guaranteed, but I think it's possible that he might think there is a chance that they can win next year. There pitching has the potential to be very good, and they definitely have some talent offensively. On top of that, knowing that they would only have one more year left of Halladay, maybe they decide to spend a little bit in the off-season. Again, personally, I don't think they can win next year. However, Ricciardi might see things a bit differently.
  20. I don't think his private life should enter a discussion about what Alex Rodriguez is to baseball. On top of that, we're talking about issues where we likely don't know all of the facts. You could make the case Manny, in some ways, was a disgrace because of things he did on the field. However, A-Rod always plays hard and works as hard as anybody in the league (according to everything I've ever read or heard).
  21. Oh ok, not sure how I forgot about the Howie Clark thing. That was a mistake on the part of A-Rod. I'll give you this and the Arroyo slap. However, two isolated incidents do not mean a whole lot, and, in no way do they make him a disgrace to baseball.
  22. Not sure why you responded that way to me asking you about the shouting incident. I wasn't trying to be rude or anything. As for the media, they're obsessed with A-Rod. That is not his fault. There are a ton of people in this world that would create "media shitstorms" if they were followed everywhere they went. These things do not make A-Rod a disgrace to baseball.
