  1. Time for the magical Leyland mound visit.
  2. Filthy change.
  3. Lol Delmon Young. What a horrendous AB.
  4. Unbelievable. That's twice that the Tigers' left fielder (different players each time) has killed them here in the dome.
  5. Jackson-Verlander-Porcello-Jackson-Verlander Cuddyer has chased a couple pitches.
  6. I agree, but there is a significant difference between Mauer and Kubel. If I'm the Twins, I'm not going to give the other team a chance to take the bat out of the hands of the league MVP.
  7. Brandon Inge, playing injured, might have saved the Tigers' season.
  8. They walk Mauer anyway, whether Cabrera's grounder gets through or not.
  9. And there you go. I really think Gardenhire has hurt the Twins the past two innings. Now they can't win the game with their closer. Optimist, what would be great is if Blackburn, Jackson, and Verlander find their way into this game.
  10. The fact that Gomez is in this game makes the decision to bunt even worse.
  11. Great play, but it would not have won the game. It did remind, though, of Tex's play last year.
  12. I don't agree with the bunt there. If they get Cabrera out, Mauer won't get a chance to hit. Potentially taking the bat out of your best players hands is rarely a good idea.
  13. This killed them in the 7th and it's probably going to kill them in the 9th. You cannot let Nick Punto get on base to lead off an inning.
  14. What a fantastic baseball game. The last three one game playoffs have been excellent. It's been a nice change after 95, 98, and 99.
  15. I know your original post wasn't directed at me. Your second post, from my perspective, was. Now, I was not offended by it. Too many people try to decipher other people's emotions online. It's pointless, because very often you're wrong. In response to your initial post I was simply asking you if you agreed with Gardenhire's decision. I don't understand why you think I was offended and why you think I took it personally. For what it's worth, you are wrong on both counts. I also don't think I called you out. I simply asked you a question.
  16. Excellent base running by Adam Everett.
  17. I doubt Liriano gets a start. Remember, he was scheduled to pitch Friday and was skipped in favor of Manship. If they weren't willing to let him pitch on Friday, I doubt they'd be willing to let him start Game 1 of the postseason. And no Slowey.
  18. Blackburn might start Game 1 on three days rest. If that happens it would be Blackburn-Pavano-Baker-Blackburn-Pavano. If not, Brian Duensing or Jeff Manship would probably start Game 1. In that the only sure things would be Duensing/Manship in Game 1 and Blackburn in Games 2 and 5. Games 3 and 4 would be thrown by some combination of Pavano, Baker, and Duensing/Manship. EDIT: I apologize if that's confusing.
  19. I'm assuming this is a response to me (if it isn't, I apologize). I really love when people make a point, exchange a couple responses, and then tell the person to calm down when both people have engaged themselves in the discussion. Where do you see me getting worked up? Was it all the CAPS in my post? Was it all the exclamations marks? Maybe it was all the profanity? I know what thread and project you were referring to. However, it has nothing to do with the sarcastic implication that you made. No one here (I'm assuming) expects that they can handle a Major League clubhouse. We also, at times, criticize managers without full knowledge of the circumstances. However, there are times when the average fan can see the situation in a different way than the manager, and it completely justified to question the move.
  20. No one is claiming they could manage a major league team. However, for numerous different reasons, Nathan should have started the 8th inning.
  21. You don't think going to Nathan in the 8th inning was the right move?
  22. Well, in all fairness, Girardi has openly talked about pitching Hughes and Rivera multiple innings in the postseason. For the most part, Torre always managed with a sense of urgency in the playoffs. That was probably his best quality.
  23. So Gardenhire manages this game like it's just a normal regular season game. Hopefully even Joe Girardi isn't stupid enough to do that.
