  1. The stupidity of that is truly unreal.
  2. It's not just that Teixeira is 0-17, but it's a completely deserved 0-17. He has maybe hit two balls hard all year, and that is with getting ahead in the count from time to time.
  3. He certainly has potential. In my opinion, his future as a starter depends very heavily on the progression of his changeup.
  4. For what's it's worth, no one expects Hughes to be an "ace" this year.
  5. Happy birthday MSU. Hope it's a good one. EDIT: Like a700, I'm a bit early haha.
  6. Kind of looked like his foot was off the ground when he made contact with the ball, but it might have been over ground that was outside of the batter's box. I don't know the exact rule.
  7. Haha, I certainly don't. He's got his next start against the Angels, and then he pitches out in Oakland, which should go well.
  8. Yup, just didn't have it tonight. I've always rooted for the guy, since he left, so I was really looking forward to his first game back here. Pretty disappointing. Hopefully he rebounds against the Angels.
  9. Wow, Joe Maddon just refuses to take Price out.
  10. He came out throwing strikes early, and the Yankees' hitters seemed pretty quick to abandon any game plan of making him work.
  11. Haha causation failure. Anyway, tough night for him. He did some things well, but even when he wasn't giving up runs, he was scraping by without much of a fastball. That's not typically going to last.
  12. Ugh, that's not a good call. Javy hasn't really gotten that much at all.
  13. Well Javy just had his best inning of the night. His fastball command hasn't been great all night, but it really abandoned him in the fourth. Unfortunately, with the way Price is pitching, and the fact that the Yankees' haven't made him work at all, the one bad inning might do them in.
  14. Gameday has the first two pitches on the border of the strike zone. Regardless, he has struggled with fastball command all night, and he just missed with his change up. There's no way to know, but I'm willing to bet the problem is more in execution than anything else.
  15. I wouldn't necessarily say that. He got squeezed a little bit, which didn't help, and then once he got back in the count, he went to the pitch that has been the best for him tonight. He left it out over the plate. I don't think there was anything wrong with his approach.
  16. And that is why Gardner should be in left. It was a bad decision by Joe on Tuesday and it cost them defensively, and the same thing has happened tonight.
  17. Javy looks good tonight with his three off speed pitches, but his fastball command is off, and he paid there. EDIT: Not really sure what Javy was thinking there going to the fastball on 0-2. EDIT 2: He has no fastball tonight. It's been the difference.
  18. He's bad, but he seems great doing the game with Paul O'Neill.
  19. Missed check swing call there against Bartlett.
  20. Possibly, but a couple points. For Gardner, it wasn't a big sample, but he was better against left handed pitching last year. Also, on the turf, I'd rather have his speed in the lineup, in addition to his glove, over Thames.
  21. Yankees Lineup: SS Jeter DH Johnson 1B Teixeira 3B Rodriguez 2B Cano C Posada RF Swisher LF Thames CF Granderson For what he brings to the table, I don't think Gardner is getting enough of an opportunity.
  22. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2010/writers/tom_verducci/01/19/verducci.efficiency/index.html The point totals he assigns are arbitrary, but Verducci admits as much. It's hardly earth shattering, but I enjoyed reading it, and I think it's relatively accurate.
