  1. Ital, the problem is, when you say England helped out the US, no matter what your intentions are, it's going to come across as you trying to take away credit from the US. With that being said, the combination of Robert Green and England's last two results were favorable to the US. I just think that SR is upset with your word choice. However, even if you take away the point from the England match, they still deserved to come through group play with six points, which would have been enough to move onto the knockout stage.
  2. http://riveraveblues.com/2010/06/joba-and-98-30634/ Interesting article which tries to explain Joba's success last night. The more I think about it, the more I think that the author of the post might have touched on something. Tonight, along with May 10th @ Detroit, are the two outings that stand out for Joba this year, based on stuff and velocity. They both followed long top of the 8th innings. Additionally, we've seen Joba improve his velocity as a particular inning has progressed numerous times this year.
  3. Joba had really good stuff tonight, but we've seen it before this year. He needs to sustain it.
  4. They've missed so many great pitches to hit tonight. Haren has very little, but the Yankees can't make him pay.
  5. I cannot f***ing believe this. They have no idea what pitches to throw in what spots. EDIT: The best change this team could make is to find someone else to call the pitches.
  6. Worst pitch selection ever.
  7. Joe doesn't know how to use him. He's usually pretty good in the first inning, and then doesn't have anything left in the second inning, yet Joe keeps throwing him back out there for that second inning of work.
  8. Now they're just getting unlucky.
  9. And Tex misses a pitch to hit. Shocking. EDIT: Actually, the pitch was well outside.
  10. So many great pitches to hit, yet so little to show for it. They should be able to get back in this game, but it just isn't happening right now.
  11. They can't hit scrubs.
  12. It's almost to the point where this doesn't even bother me anymore. I expect them to lose every single time AJ takes the mound. People can say whatever they want about his stuff, the guy sucks, plain and simple.
  13. With all the technological advancements in today's world, it's a shame that poor officiating continues to affect the outcome of sporting events to this extent.
  14. Completely robbed of a victory.
  15. Joe just walked Victorino intentionally to face Utley. Some things never cease to amaze me.
  16. Just a horrendous job by Pettitte. You cannot walk Carlos Ruiz on four pitches, and against someone like Victorino, a two strike pitch cannot be in the strike zone.
  17. Teixeira might as well play behind runners on first. Unless Pettitte is on the mound, no one is getting caught stealing.
  18. AJ has nothing again. Shocking.
  19. Yeah, as I noted before, that was a mental error. However, it barely would have made a difference with his pitch count, based on what the next two hitters did. And CC continues to be really unlucky so far tonight.
