  1. Heyman just said on Francesa's show that the talk of this deal being 'imminent' is premature. At this point, I'd be very disappointed if they didn't get him. With Lee scheduled to pitch against the Yankees tonight, a decision one way or another should come soon.
  2. If they re-sign Lee, in my mind, this is a really nice deal for the Yankees.
  3. The main reason this deal makes sense is that Montero doesn't have a position.
  4. There wasn't an implication, I was simply asking a question. As for your actual point, if Beckett is healthy, I agree, a slight edge to Sabathia.
  5. Does the '=
  6. Thing is, this really is more a move for the postseason than the regular season. The Yankees' 2009 rotation was one of the worst rotations ever to win a world series. They know, with a three man rotation, and the last two being pretty average, that they were pretty lucky to win last year. The Yankees are now enjoying a luxury that up until the past couple years, they didn't know too well. They finally have some really good prospects. There are two ways to use a farm system: let the players develop and hope they eventually become big time pieces on the MLB club, or use them as trades for established big leaguers. The Yankees are taking the latter route, and I'm confident they waited until the right time to trade Montero.
  7. Big big hit from A-Rod. This would be a nice one to have with Lee and King Felix coming up. EDIT: Kind of funny to think that this is the guy who people always complained never came through in big spots. 2007 started to put that to rest, and I guess last year's postseason completely ended any talk of that.
  8. AJ really getting squeezed. EDIT: Way too many changeups. EDIT 2: Between the HP umpire, and the bloops, AJ has been extremely unlucky this inning.
  9. Nice win. I thought Cahill would prove to be more difficult for the Yankees, but A-Rod really stepped it up tonight. Always nice to see.
  10. For starters, you're placing that implication there. This is the internet, where we only see text on a screen. Take comments at face value. Second, my statement (which began our conversation), very clearly only referred to Jacko's point that the Yankees will be in good shape if Teixeira and A-Rod started hitting. That point has absolutely nothing to do with the Red Sox.
  11. Jacko might come across as too much of a fanboy sometimes (and that statement might not be any different), but his point certainly has some merit. If Teixeira and A-Rod do start hitting, they should be in good shape.
  12. CC has been successful tonight, but still his command leaves something to be desired. Once he starts hitting his spots on a more consistent basis, he's going to be very tough to beat.
  13. The players and the managers choose the pitchers, not the fans.
  14. Not only did the players pick him, he received the third most votes from the players. He doesn't belong in the ASG, but don't put this on Girardi.
  15. There are no actual rules, it's just typical that if the ball doesn't touch the outfielders glove, it's a hit. Fact is, if a fly ball isn't caught because of the sun, it is usually scored a hit, regardless of where the game is being played. Again, I agree with you, A-Rod's double and Gardner's home run both should have been scored errors, but it's just the way it has always been.
  16. I admit that it's a poor decision, but, when an outfielder loses a ball in the sun, it is typically called a hit, no matter where the game is being played.
  17. Ladies and gentlemen, your American League all-star, Phil Hughes (and his 3.86 ERA).
  18. Absolutely impossible to tell from where he was standing. Every base runner in that situation is taught to run a little bit past second, turn, and watch for the baseball. Swisher did nothing wrong. With that being said, it was an awful send by Rob Thomson, something that Yankees' fans have become accustomed to.
  19. What did Swisher do wrong?
  20. Awful pitch selection against Wise and McDonald. Typical Yankees.
