Nice win. I finally feel comfortable saying Teixeira has turned it around. The pitching tonight, mainly from Hughes and Robertson, is also encouraging.

Nick Swisher just bunted. That's insane. EDIT: Big hit for Robbie, who has been struggling as of late. The bunt was still incredibly stupid (based on a similar incident earlier in the season, I bet Swisher did it on his own), but the middle of the order came through.

With Figgins on deck there is no reason to pitch to Ichiro here. EDIT: Just walk him please. EDIT 2: Wow, got to give credit to Phil. That was some pitch.

Just awful defensive positioning for the Yankees. If you're going to pitch Johnson in, the center fielder can not be positioned in the right center field gap.

I really hope the Yankees don't turn around and swing Montero for someone like Oswalt or Haren. It would have been worth it for Lee, but not for anyone else.

I don't have a standard of objectivity that I look for in posters. I'm just not going to view someone's opinion as an objective one when they admit that they mention something because they like to pick on the Yankees. I like reading your posts, that's just isn't one I'm going to take seriously, because of your own admission.

If you admit you just like to pick on the Yankees, your opinion isn't likely to viewed as an objective one. The Yankees weren't going to up their offer, so there was no reason, from their perspective, to drag this out. I don't blame them in the least, but whatever, I guess we see things differently. As for 'all you Yankee fans', I think that's only me haha. Others here seemed at least a notch less excited than me.

I can see how this thing played out. The Rangers jumped in, offered Smoak, and all of a sudden the M's weren't too keen on disregarding that and just accepting the Yankees offer. I don't blame Zduriencik for wanting to mull over his options.

If Lee goes to the Rangers, I really hope Smoak goes back to the M's. EDIT: And there it is.

They were very lucky to win the World Series last year with their rotation. Even though the rotation looks decent right now, come October, they might very well be in a similar situation. I'm not overly confident in them winning the 2010 World Series with the current rotation. Cliff Lee would have certainly helped.

And now the deal appears to have fallen apart. Very, very disappointing.
