  1. The two hits were very soft. And I would be OK with this pitching change if Rivera was coming out of the pen, but not Robertson.
  2. The Royals are very fortunate to be in this position right now.
  3. With Rivera having pitched in back to back games, and in four of the last five, I'd like to see Girardi let CC finish this.
  4. Or not... EDIT: Where the heck was the 2-0...
  5. We might finally see a Yankees' starter pitch a complete game tonight.
  6. They got lucky last year in the postseason with the three man rotation. AJ was awful in his one start on three days rest, and Pettitte admitted (and it was clearly visible) that he had nothing in game six. Now, this year, they eliminated the off day between games four and five of the League Championship Series. So unlike last year, when Burnett and Pettitte only had to pitch on three days rest in the World Seres, they would now have to do it in both rounds. And, on top of all that, the Yankees won't have the luxury of choosing the longer Division Series this year, so their pitchers would also be pitching on short rest in the first round. It's a lot easier said than done to go with another three man rotation in this year's postseason, if the Yankees make it.
  7. You weren't saying this all the times they brought him in a tie game this year. The tie game stuff from past years is just flukey. He's a great pitcher, and with the Rangers' middle of the order coming up, and Robertson having already pitched, Rivera was the correct choice. Additionally, until Murphy's AB, he pitched fine. The hits from Young and Hamilton were soft and lucky. That easily could have been a 1-2-3 inning.
  8. In my opinion, this is how he has been the entire year, and even last year out of the pen. His fastball just has so much late life, that, at times, he's able to get away with it. I just don't think he has great fastball command. If he corrects that, and improves his change-up, he has a chance to be a fantastic starting pitcher - but I'm getting way ahead of myself. Anyway, I've got to run. Enjoy the rest of the game guys.
  9. I just don't think Hughes does anything better than Buchholz. With that being said, you looked pretty bad with your proclamations earlier in the year during the May series.
  10. I don't think Hughes is better than Buchholz by any means, but I think even you would have to admit that Hughes was very unlucky that inning. Not a single ball was hit well.
  11. At this point it would be pretty improbable if the Yankees were to win this game, when you consider the score, Hughes' pitch count, and Lester opposing the Yankees. Not too upset that I'm going to have to miss most of this one.
  12. To some extent Hughes has been really unlucky so far today. On the other hand, he has to be able to put hitters away.
  13. A-Rod is just horrible right now. Can't wait for the next seven years!
  14. Hate that it's not Rivera. Tomorrow is going to be a tough game to win. No reason to screw around tonight.
  15. The hit he gave up was lucky, but Joba is horrible. As YS said, opposing hitters know to lay off the slider with two strikes, and he shies away from throwing the fastball. Now Boone Logan has to face Papi in the at-bat that will probably go a long way towards determining how the rest of this game will play out.
  16. With Joba, anything is possible. http://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/NYA/NYA201005180.shtml
  17. Unless you're an excellent defensive catcher, you shouldn't be trying the pickoffs. There is a better chance of throwing it into the outfield than getting the guy out. I hate how often Cervelli does it.
  18. Agreed, but considering the way Cash caught it, that's a pretty tough call for the umpire.
  19. This should be Moseley's last batter. No reason to let him face Papi again.
  20. The other shoe is finally dropping with Moseley. He got lucky last inning. The same thing was going to happen this inning.
  21. Moseley got very lucky that inning. They would be wise to have a quick hook for him going forward.
