  1. Won't be used in the same manner.
  2. Sure, and that's a reasonable opinion. But I don't see how you can knock anyone for thinking the Yankees aren't guaranteed to make the playoffs.
  3. There is no guarantee that the Yankees make the playoffs. You happen to think the Red Sox are done. I don't.
  4. The Astros are paying the majority of Berkman's remaining contract.
  5. Anything about my comment that you disagree with?
  6. Coke never had that pitch last year. I couldn't care less when the Yankees got rid of Coke, but at this point it's too bad they still don't have him.
  7. Lilly is a nice move for the rest of the regular season, but he's likely a non-factor when the playoffs roll around (if the Yankees make it). He might not even make the playoff rotation, and if he does, he's a marginal upgrade at best.
  8. Of course I was disappointed. I want the Yankees to win. Them not hitting those pitches hurt the Yankees chances of winning. In this case, it doesn't suggest that they failed to meet any kind of arbitrary expectations on my part.
  9. But they should be able to sign him after the season anyway, without having to give up Montero. Either way, they're trading their best prospect for two and a half months of a pitcher. I can't believe they'd do that if they believed Lee was a luxury.
  10. This really tells me that you either didn't watch tonight's game, or just weren't paying close enough attention. Tonight, like most nights when he pitches, Hughes continually missed the desired target with his fastball.
  11. I'm implying anything. I'm simply stating facts, and those are that, tonight, they lost in large part due to Teixeira and A-Rod continually missing good pitches to hit. I was also mentioning this earlier in the game in an attempt to illustrate that Davis wasn't really that good tonight, as he continually missed his spots with his fastball, yet also continued to get away with it.
  12. One of the worst losses of the year.
  13. A-Rod is just awful right now. This milestone is the worst thing that could have happened to Alex.
  14. Teixeira has been absolutely brutal tonight. He's missing great pitches to hit.
  15. But he's not as good a hitter, and that's their primary need (considering it's the DH spot they're trying to fill). EDIT: Just saw your last post. Didn't know that.
  16. This doesn't make sense to me. I guess they want him to platoon with Berkman, but that is something Thames can do.
  17. I really believe their biggest hole is in the starting rotation, although no one seems to want to acknowledge that fact.
  18. He has pitched significantly worse than his line would indicate. Teixeira and A-Rod have missed a bunch of great pitches, and the whole lineup has chased pitches out of the zone. When you couple that with Joe Girardi picking the absolute worst time to hit and run with Jeter up in the fifth inning, and you're not going to score many runs.
  19. They've swung at so many balls tonight. Dammit, this would be a bad loss. EDIT: It means absolutely nothing tonight whether they're up in the count or behind in the count.
  20. And that's Phil Hughes. He misses location with his fastball way too often, and eventually he was going to pay.
