  1. but at league min contracts with incentives it's not a very big risk, considering it's pocket change for henry. john
  2. it's not about how many steals you get, it's about how many steals you get compared to how many times you get caught stealing. peirre might have stolen 65 bases 2 seasons ago, but he was caught over 20 times. pod stole 70 bases and was only caught THRITEEN times. yeah, i do trust espn. but that's when it comes to contracts. unless they report it i don't believe it. that's very different than agreeing with everything their writers say. pierre is far from a great base stealer. he's a good base stealer with lots of speed at best. dave roberts is far superior. 38 stolen bases, caught steeling THREE times. that's just amazing. john
  3. heh, good point, i didn't even think about that. mainly because you rarely see it happen. john
  4. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/columns/story?id=1971282 anyone else think so? i think peirre is overrated. i don't think he's as good as a base stealer as every says, i don't think he's as good as everyone thinks either. john
  5. an incentive loaded contract of course.. john
  6. any have any idea how much nen and beck are looking for. nen was absolutely filthy before the 2003 season (which he didn't play at all). i can't see offering him a min contract with millions more in incentives. if we're willing to gamble 750k on mantei i don't see why we won't with nen. this guy was my fav closer, still is if he can get healthy again. what about beck, timlin is getting old and embree has lost speed on that fastball. i'm just never too comfortable with those oldies on the mound. i trust them, but not too much :-( john
  7. if vick tried to run on the pats our linebackers would eat him alive and spit him back out in a matter of seconds. bruschi, willy and johnson are all very mobile EXTREMELY underrated linebackers. you can't just throw stats out. if he's so good he should have the stats the prove it. yeah, he might get in grooves here and there but stats show that he's more often NOT on than he is on. john
  8. i honestly don't see any of those trades happening. if they do trade what do those teams have to offer? john
  9. the astros are absolutely retarted. clemens outsmarted them. he know they couldn't afford beltran and once he didn't' take all that money clemens was there to sweep it up. 18 mill for a 3 era pitcher in the NL is too much money. cy young or no cy young, 18 mill for a pitcher when you won't even win your division is stupid. john
  10. who knows, by that time it might be someone else going to the pen instead of javy. he has a goal, a purpose now, to make the yankees regret the trade. john
  11. lol, i was being sarcastic. but funny nontheless. i really gotta get rid of this bad rep i have. i'm such a nice easygoing wonderful person in real life. john
  12. do people honestly think we have an abundance of starters? having javy in the rotation does not hurt us, especially since he has the motivation to beat the yankees, not to mention being under a new pitching coach. if "willer" goes down we'de be so thankful we made this move. john
  13. i would do it just to spite the yankees. it's just funny that the "boss" would be paying for part of a red sox players contract. we would lose depth in the outfield. what if manny needs a day off and if damon/nixon were to be injured. yeah, we have millar but either him or minky will be traded. that means ortiz at first. it's definately workable but i don't see it happening. payton and a prospect should do it though. it would take an above average spec imo. john
  14. i hate all of you john
  15. you might swing the other way but it doesn't mean we all do :harhar: john
  16. giving up all that for ben sheets when you don't even know if you can match the highest offer given to him on the market is a bad idea. arroyo is a cheap starter and you're giving up 3 prospects for him. gosox- like i stated earlier, no one other than the high payroll teams could afford renteria. the angels have cabrera, the yankees have jeter and i don't really see any other team spending that kind of money when you can get somone like delgado for 1-2 mill more per year and have much better production offensively. john
  17. it doesn't matter who agrees, especially because i allready know those facts. the point is that he is a good pitcher and is capable of putting up an era of under 4 or even 3.5. will he do it? i doubt it, could he? sure. john
  18. it's not like he's going to be the closer for the cubs. i'm sure they are going to try hawkins there again. john
  19. where are you hearing this knews? who in their right mind would pay renteria 10 mill a season over the course of 4 seasons other than the high payroll teams? john
  20. i think it is slightly premature to say that he'll never have one of those seasons again. it is possible that he can do it again, he's still decently young and has time to adapt and improve. a breakout season is more often followed by more good seasons than more poor seasons. john
  21. what about bin laden? john
  22. for that price i don't see why the sox didn't sign him. if they are willing to risk 750k on mantei i don't see why they won't risk 300-500k on williamson. those 2 (if healthy) with foulke would/could take so much off our starters if needed. john
  23. the amount of games he win's doesn't matter, it's the era and other stats that do. with that said he should win over 15 games with that yankee lineup. john
  24. that's good, counter my statement with something completely unrelated to the subject. brady being overrated has nothing to do with vick being overrated. it's not like i even stated that brady was great, or good for that matter. i think he's an above average QB with a very good short passing game. the pats win their games on D, not on O. we all know this by now, or at least new england fans do. brady passed for over 3600 yards, vick didn't break 2400 brady passed for 28 td's and 14 int, vick passed for 14 td and 12 int.don't give me the he has a run game bs, he ran for 3 td's. brady's qb rating was 92.6, vicks was under 80 not to mention brady passed for much more and still kept a better ratio. brady had 7 fumbles, vick had 16 unless vick learns how to throw the ball he'll never get to brady's level. john
  25. johnson was absolutely ROBBED of the cy young last year. it's almost entirely based on wins, i guess that's appropriate because CY is mainly known for the amount of wins he had. they definately need a new pitcher award. for all around best pitcher, not crap like wins. john
