  1. Man baseball has changed. it used to be that you could have a 24 year old hitter, and he would strike out a bit, and people wopuld say, "Hey that's ok because he's still a kid and has plenty of time to develop." Now with bloated salarys and free agency people freak out anytime a team makes a move for a young player with potential upside, because he's not goign to hit .330 with 40 HR's right out of the gate. For the first time in a LONG time the Red Sox have a team that is not only good but YOUNG and has the potential to be very very very good for years to come with the young players that we have. And somehow a third of the collective fanbase freaks out because we're holding a guy on our roster that is a project. We could literally become the have Oakland A's young talent along with Yankee payroll to go out and get good players when needed. I really don't understand why people can't just wait a year or two and let the guy develop. God forbid we show some patience. I had to write a little rant after scannign this thread, the lack of knowledge some people has infuriates me.
  2. NESN's pregame is far too long. I'll turn it on in and see the pregame and realize that there's still liek an hour untill first pitch. It sucks.
  3. Wang sucks, but the Yankees will still win.
  4. The wya FOulke looked today I really think we need to get him back in the closer role. Let Papelbon set up and keep him ready to step in the rotation if anything happens there. We can't get Papelbon used to the closer role, that's Hansen's job in the future.
  5. WE HAVE ENOUGH PITCHING!! Look at our rotation! Schilling Wake Burnett Clement Wells If anyone goes down we have Papelbon.. If anyone else goes down then we would be screwed anyways. As far as the Bullpen goes we have about 10 million options there. We traded an ageing pitcher who wouldn't have been in the rotation for a 24 year old with LOADS of potential, once Papa Jack (In my opinon the best betting coach in baseball) gets a hold of him he will turn into a very good player.
  6. We got a World Series ring, they took on Normar who was out for the rest of the season like 2 days later, the guy can't hit the crap out of the baseball for all I care it was a good trade.
  7. Everything I have checked say's that he should be in the line up tuesday.
  8. He's 24 years old, he needs to learn to hit top pitching. Clearly you've never heard of a thing called "player development". You're a typical "fan" with no knowlegde of baseball. Cal Ripken did s***** when he first broke into the league too, the O's jsut should have dumped the s***** hiutter because we all know: how you do when you enter the league is how you will do your entire career.
  9. He's 24 years old, he's a baby in baseball terms. Get off the guys back.
  10. You're joking right? There were times where I tohught she was the only analyst worst listening to on the entire god damn team. I live in CT so I get YES too and I was DEVESTATED when she went to the radio (mostly because 95% of her psot game reports SLAMMED the Yankees), she was fearless and asked whatever question she wanted no matter how much it pissed of Joe or any of the Yankees for that matter. Ugh I was so dissapointed when she left.
  11. Wait what? Cheny shot the 80 year old guy right, it's not liek he was trying to get himself shot. *Excuse me if I missed some details I stopped following this story when the border debates heated up*
  12. Peopel give him s*** because he's about to ruin the game not because he's an *******. There are plenty of guys in MLB i can tolerate even thought they are *******s, I give bonds s*** because he is tarnishing the game of baseball.
  13. Yes you're rigth he started gambling because he wanted money. But then he got plenty of money, no need to gamble right? Any sane person wouldn't gamble a dime of the ammount he had. His compulsive gambling doesn't make him an ******* clearly there is something wrong with him where he just can't stop. It's not about greed, it's about what goes on in his head, the some kind of sick twisted thrill that he gets by putting 100 grand on a horse.
  14. People don't give him mroe s*** because of his "attitude" people give him more s*** because for the last 8 years he's cheated and cheated and cheated and is now about to break the most hallowed record in all of baseball. He's RUINING the game, and as far as my kids are going to be concerned Hank Aaron holds the all time Home Run record no matter what number BOnds finishes with when he hangs up his cleats. He's ruining the game that we all love that's why the fans give him so much more s***. As far your "The guy is a greedy lil' bitch...you still see him at the tracks" arguement goes. As I said before he si addicted to gambling, it is a psychological disease that peole can get, very much like an alcoholic addicted to beer. But on second thought your right. He's addicted to gambling so he's a greedy little *******. So are all the alcoholics, god they jsut drink so god damn much when they could just as easily stop. Those chronically depressed people too, what assclowns, we should just kill them for acting so god damn sad all the time. Those cancer patients too, what f***ing batards acting all sick all the time, why don't they just get f***ing better. His gambling is a psychological problem he can't help himself.
  15. I live in Connecticut where everyone loves it. IT SUCKS!!!
  16. Ohhhh watch out guys, we have Rose's right hand man here. If you didn't find it funny then you have no sense of humor and need to see some psychiatric help. Pete did do something wrong but it wasn't CHEATING. The gambling didn't raise his performance in anyway (obviously he was a manager) and ti didn't egt him th erecord, what Bonds is doing is literally going to get him a record he doesn't deserve, so yes what he is doing is FAR worse than what Rose did. Also if you believe Rose bet on abseball because he wanted more money than you're wait.... still a moron. The guy had PLENTY of money he wasn't doing it to get more. He was ADDICTED TO GAMBLING. It is a psychological problem that peole get, much liek alcoholism. They do it because it makes the feel powerful, or because they know they cna blow that kind of money. There can be a million reasons why but it was certainly not because he needed more money.
  17. I agree 100%.
  18. We but the tickets that pay his salary. We watch the games on TV by doing this we keep the game alive. There is no baseball without the fans of the game. We have the choice to make whatever we want our place. It didn't disrupt the game, there was no chance of it hurting anyone, and it was f***ing hilarious. I'm fine with it. As far as the Pete Rose comment goes your a moron if you believe betting on baseball is worse than taking steroids while playing the game.
  19. Typical. So highly typical of a Yankke fan.
  20. That's ridiculous. The hardest two times to get a good hititng streak going are the beggining and ends of the season. He was hot at the end of the season, hasn't been a game for the whole offseason and now he has to get hot alll over again. As forMcGwire and Sosa, no one cared about going for it in 12 months because it was the SINGLE SEASON home run mark, this si jsut a hitting streak, nothing saying wether it can or can not be spanned over two seasons. As for the mental strain and the "media surrounding him". The media is going to be all over this. We're talking about it right now and the season hasn't even started yet! Bottom line here is it is so much harder to get hot and then try and get hot again in a new season all over again. It's called "mid-season form" for a reason.
  21. Hey welcome, was this the first guy to go through the new "admission thing".
  22. They key here is the word "to". He's been saying all along that he never gave steroids directly to Bonds, he only gave it to Bond's personal trainer. Same difference.
  23. You really feel that way? The way I figure it's herder to go on a tear at the end of one season and then start up all over again to egt another streak going, at the start of a new seaosn no less! EDIT: I can see this has already been argued, any stat heads know what the longest streak from game one of a season on is?
  24. Sox Yanks Jays Rays O's (have fun with the Kentucky Fried Helmit Head down there.)
  25. It's too bad I think we've decided to let him go after this year. I really believe the Willy Mo trade was to replace Tek full time after this year.
