  1. Yeah. I was gunna say the same. From '67 to the present, sticking with all that heartache definitely makes him a frontrunner.
  2. If this is still happening in a month and a half, then worry. We're talking about Manny Ramirez. And like 700 said, if Manny's hitting is the biggest problem, the division is ours.
  3. Welcome to TalkSox However, I won't forgive your Badgers for beating my Eagles
  4. No, you only owned yourself. According to those links, boughten is an adjective. You used it as a verb in the past tense. Therefore, wrongly using the word, and in the process, owning yourself.
  5. Welcome
  6. Peralta's not exactly a sleeper. In most drafts I've seen he goes by the 7th round. Ervin Santana's pretty decent, but most people know about him before the draft and wait to see how long they can go without picking him.
  7. I finished all my classes in school for the day. I'm in the computer room, and quite bored. So I figure I'll just start a gamethread now to give me something to do. Wooo....Gustavo Chacin took a bad picture....kinda freaky looking. Go Sox! Game Info: Date: Wednesday, April 12th, 2006 First Pitch: 7:05pm ET TV: NESN / ESPN2 Starting Pitchers: http://i.a.cnn.net/si/images/baseball/mlb/players/7463.jpghttp://bellsouthpwp.net/c/h/chinigor/TALKSOX/VS.GIFhttp://i.a.cnn.net/si/images/baseball/mlb/players/4057.jpg http://boston.redsox.mlb.com/mlb/images/team_logos/50x50/tor.gif#39 Gustavo Chacin (1-0, 4.05) http://boston.redsox.mlb.com/mlb/images/team_logos/50x50/bos.gif#16 David Wells (0-0, -.--) Wells returns from DL as Red Sox try to continue winning streak Toronto (3-4) at Boston (6-1) 7:05 pm EDT BOSTON (Ticker) - Despite being without their regular leadoff hitter and center fielder, the Boston Red Sox prevailed in their home opener. On Wednesday, they will welcome back one of their winningest pitchers from last season when they host the Toronto Blue Jays in the middle contest of a three-game series. After Coco Crisp was placed on the 15-day disabled list with a broken knuckle suffered in Sunday's win at Baltimore, Adam Stern and Kevin Youkilis capably filled in by leading the Red Sox to their fifth straight victory. Stern and Youkilis, replacing Crisp in center field and at the top of the order, respectively, combined to drive in three runs in the second inning of Tuesday's 5-3 triumph. The 42-year-old Wells (NR), who began the 2006 campaign on the DL following right knee surgery, ranked second on the Red Sox with 15 wins in 2005. He will have a tough act to follow in his first game of the season after Josh Beckett made his Red Sox home debut by allowing just a run and three hits in seven innings. Wells is fourth among active pitchers with 227 career wins, including 84 in eight seasons as a member of the Blue Jays. Opposing Wells will be Gustavo Chacin (1-0, 4.05), who tied for Toronto's team lead with 13 wins as a rookie last year. In his first start of 2006, Chacin allowed three runs and six hits in 6 2/3 innings of a 6-3 win over Minnesota on Thursday. Frank Catalanotto's eighth-inning two-run homer was one of just five hits Tuesday for Toronto, which has lost three of four games since Chacin's last start.
  8. There has ALWAYS been animosity between ORS and 26. Always. Goes back months and months and back into the 2005 season.
  9. Nah, you won't get murdered for that statement. You'd get murdered if you typed like a dumbass and the only 3 words out of your mouth were "Whiffin Willy Moe." Your sig seriously does make me laugh. It's way too true and hilarious. We shall see. The only way he's going to get better is if he gets time, so we shall see soon enough. Patience is a virtue.
  10. Delcarmen, maybe Pedroia or Moss too.
  11. Just recently picked him up. Jason Bay = sleeper? No. He goes in the second round, tops. I said Jeremy Hermida earlier, and other than Verlander and Prince Fielder I can't think of any others that haven't already been said. Matt Cain isn't exactly a sleeper, a lot of people know about him.
  12. No room. He's in their 'pen. I don't necessarily agree that he's in the 'pen, but that's how they're using him.
  13. Prince Fielder maybe?
  14. Welcome Sara
  15. No, just drafts in general.
  16. Hahah yeah, it would be 56 mill.
  17. Hahah, no kidding. Good to have you here.
  18. Papelbon won't be going late anymore. Jeremy Hermida.
  19. T-minus 3 hours and 32 minutes until first pitch. Really excited about this game. The home opener baby! I was ALMOST able to go today...but to no avail. Oh well. GO SOX! Game Info: Date: Tuesday, April 11th, 2006 First Pitch: 2:05pm ET TV: NESN Starting Pitchers: http://i.a.cnn.net/si/images/baseball/mlb/players/6712.jpghttp://bellsouthpwp.net/c/h/chinigor/TALKSOX/VS.GIFhttp://i.a.cnn.net/si/images/baseball/mlb/players/6403.jpg http://boston.redsox.mlb.com/mlb/images/team_logos/50x50/tor.gif#7 Josh Towers (0-1, 7.71) http://boston.redsox.mlb.com/mlb/images/team_logos/50x50/bos.gif#19 Josh Beckett (1-0, 1.29) Beckett makes Fenway debut as Red Sox host Blue Jays Toronto (3-3) at Boston (5-1) 2:05 pm EDT BOSTON (Ticker) -- Josh Beckett began his tenure with the Boston Red Sox by putting on a show in his home state. He hopes to deliver an equally impressive performance in front of his new home fans. Beckett makes his second start of the season Tuesday when the Red Sox play their home opener against the Toronto Blue Jays. Acquired in an offseason trade with the Florida Marlins, Beckett will be counted on to help anchor Boston's starting rotation this season. The hard-throwing righthander was brilliant in Wednesday's 2-1 victory over the Texas Rangers. A native of Spring, Texas, Beckett allowed one run in seven innings to notch the win in his Red Sox debut. If Boston wants to extend its winning streak to five games, it will have to do so against Toronto righthander Josh Towers (0-1, 7.71). A six-year veteran, Towers yielded five runs - four earned - and 10 hits in just 4 2/3 innings of a 13-4 loss to Minnesota on Wednesday.
  20. True, but whether he pitches like Barry Zito or not, he still has the most devastating curveball in the game. I'm not saying that I'm totally afraid, and there are definitely other pitchers out there that I'm afraid of being in pinstripes, but the man is still Barry Zito. Then again, I guess the same could be said about Esteban Loaiza
  21. If Zito decides to pitch like Barry Zito, yes, he scares all of us.
  22. Pft, Beckett vs. the Yankees in the playoffs? See 2003. Beckett all the way. Besides, the Yanks won't get him because the Marlins will require young, top of the line prospects and the Yankees just don't have that. Unless a 3-way deal happens, I don't see how the Yanks would have what it takes to get Willis from the re-building Marlins.
  23. Well, knowing Tito, he's going to give Stern the chance to show why he should remain on the Red Sox roster past his required time at the ML level. We may see great things come out of that kid as he proves to the management and the fans why he should remain on the roster.
  24. I'm f***ing glad I wasn't able to welcome you. I was doing MUCH better things on this day when you joined.
