  1. I'm saying that I fully expect Lowell to come down off this hot streak soon, and then revert back to his s***** offensive production to complement being the worst defensive third baseman in the league. At that point, they should just DL him. His hip scares the f*** out of me. I'm not rooting for him to be injured, I just think the problems he already has are enough reasons to put him on the DL. Not only that, but it will improve the overall lineup (again, once his hot streak is over). I was happy to see him in the bottom 3rd of the lineup because if he's as on fire as you guys say, we will finally have some life out of the 7-8-9 section of the lineup. That's a spot that has been very, very weak this year.
  2. Felix Hernandez is 9 years younger than Doc. If he continues to improve his already elite level of pitching, he will be in Doc territory. You trade for Felix because he is the type of pitcher that you lock up for YEARS.
  3. Good. Even more of a good reason he's in the bottom third of the lineup then. Long-term I see Lowell's health being a major issue. That's what I was referring to when I said I would rather him out of it. Out of it as in.. on the DL. I didn't notice his hot streak though. When he comes off of it something will probably be done. Gotta ride the hot streak though, you're right.
  4. I was in the same ballpark, lol.
  5. I do too. It's strong even without Bay in it. I liked what I saw from Reddick last night... hopefully the geeky OF can continue the success.
  6. So Bay and Tek sit today. Interesting. I will say .. I love seeing Lowell's name in the bottom third of the lineup, though I'd rather not see it at all. If Bay was in the lineup, Lowell might be hitting 8th. At least that's what I'd say.
  7. This is just getting out of control. 2 Fenway SECURITY GUARDS were fired last fall after they were discovered using steroids. There's also a good chance that the Fenway employees have had knowledge of use by players, even though they deny it. One of them did talk with David Ortiz's close friend about steroid use, however. My point in bringing this up is that this adds a whole new dimension to the steroids era. Not so much about the fact that there are security guards on steroids (lol), but that these people COULD conceivably act as a source for these athletes if this is more prevalent throughout the league. When an investigation is launched, how many times do the investigators automatically turn to physical therapists, trainers, or the athletes' primary physicians? The security guards would fly right under the radar. I would like to think that this is an isolated incident, because if something like the above is going on, baseball has EVEN MORE problems to worry about it. Nuts. Boston.com Article ...or this could be another backhanded insult formed by the media to further tarnish Ortiz's name after the fallout. His name simply being in this article would make someone who doesn't believe the media has an agenda want to dislike Ortiz even more. I dunno. Thoughts?
  8. Did anyone else almost spit their drink all over their computer screen? I found this quite funny.
  9. I agree in part, J_E, but at the same time it's like fixing something that isn't broken.
  10. Why do certain fans think the play of their team's players creates an inferiority complex amongst the other team's fans? What the f*** do I care if Lugo does well in St. Louis? I'm just happy he's out of Boston. Good f***ing riddance.
  11. Martinez's first hit can't come at a better time! 3-0 Sox!
  12. Nice, you knew exactly where I was going with that.
  13. Nice. I like box.
  14. I agree that they (they meaning designated hitters) still need a day off, but not as much as someone who also plays in the field. There's much less wear and tear. Besides, I think at this point and time Ortiz wants to be on the field due to his success immediately following the 2003 fallout. I agree they should sit him every once and awhile, but not at this moment. I'm glad they're not.
  15. Ellsbury has been absolutely ridiculous for us lately. Nevermind what he did last night, he has seriously been tremendous. It seems that he has figured out how to combine his success from the 7 spot with his ideal spot at leadoff. If this is true, I think it can be the type of transition that really sparks a lineup and helps balance the lineup. I think it's a piece of the team that has flown under the radar for a bit.
  16. Chris Duncan reminds me of Dunkin Donuts.
  17. Beckham's plate discipline seems impeccable. Takes the fastball the other way for the double. 5-0 ChiSox. LOL 6-0 ChiSox on a Dye single to RF. Burnett can't get anything together right now.
  18. What a great AB for Nix. 3-2 with bases loaded... and Burnett walks in a run. Looked like it could have been a called strike though.
  19. Jayson Nix up with the bases loaded, 1 down for the ChiSox.
  20. I like the 2nd option. I don't like having 2 unproven pitchers carrying our rotation the rest of the way in Buchholz/Bowden. However, during the waiver trading period, I see CK + someone else being spun for a back of the order starter or something. I don't think our pitching is set for the long run just yet.
