i dont think it is reasonable to say that sosa is supected to have taken steroids, are you suggesting that he lied under oath? that is a huge offense. plus, he didnt go from skinny to ripped like mcgwire. i do agree with the comment about mcgwire saving baseball and he should therefore be left alone, but sosa would have saved it if mcgwire didnt because sosa also broke the record. plus i am sick of everyone making a big deal about mcgwire. he took steroids? NO s***!!!! shaunessy is writing a bunch of articles about being "duped" by mcgwire, probably just looking for something to write

dont you realize that bringing payton back takes time away from our prized rookies which is what the organization is supposedly all about now...its not good that they get less playing time, and payton will cause that by being here, so im not too sure about genius

i think that if they loosened the criteria for the retired numbers then it would take away from the honor of having your number retired.. it would make it more common

The writer said the Red Sox would give it some thought, but why would they need to think about it? I can't see why they wouldnt if he met the criteria (10 yrs. , Hall Of Fame). Does anyone know why he would not get his number retired?

i agree that rose deserves it, but by betting on baseball i believe he should not get in, i agree with humongous, rice was dominant for periods of time and thats rice's argument

mvp 78(six times in top five for mvp voting), 2400 hits, 1400 rbis, 380 hrs, 8 times all star,400+ bases in one season, once a four outfielder shift was used for him (goes to show how dominant he was)and he once hit 16 consecutive balls in bp

OBP? that wasnt a factor back then, there wasnt such a stress on OBP back in the seventy's, thats billy beane,plus when you are an outfielder wiht such great offense, the stress isnt on the defense, most people think manny is a shoo-in for hof and his defense is medicre(if that). i dont think someone should be left out of the hof if their obp isnt through the roof, especially since nobody back then cared, he still had 300+ hrs and 1400+ rbis 200+ hits etc. and he desrves to get in
