  1. another thing: wats the deal with fred lynn? has he ever been on the ballot
  2. Why the hell hasnt Rice been elected into the hall of fame?!?! he was one of the few people on the red sox to become captain, he was mvp in 1978(not a great year), 2000+ hits, 382 career hrs, and wasnt terrible defensively....wat is going on here
  3. what are you yankees fans doing here, its a red sox forum
  4. i hope he can appeal and take off one or two games. he is a huge player for the sox and we desperately need him at this part of the seasonin order to turn it around
  5. i definetly think arroyo can stop the yankees, the big question is can the sox provide run support? arroyo seems to always go out and pitch a great game. the biggest problem is that we always blow it for him
  6. i can see where you are coming from, but if we have the all stars, we shouldnt sit them, though we should give more playing time to those players
  7. im going to have to disagree wiht redsox on cutting bellhorns achilles tendon. athough he does just about always go up there looking for a walk, he has better stats then milar, and he can deliver some clutch hits here and there. plus you dont see him shoving kfc in his face every commmercial break, do you?
  8. i think that the backups are beginning to prove themselves. mcarty has been doing good in lf and 1b and doing his share offensively, and kapler is hot right now. i think i rememebr hearing something about them saying that when they get to play more frequently, they get more comfortable at the plate and they hit better. i think that if we play kapler a bit more then he may produce more for us, especially considering he is a career underachiever considering his speed and strength
  9. YES his offensive production against us in that catastrophic sweep pissed me off SO much just because he completely sucks for us but not wen he plays us
  10. if im not mistaken, fred mcgriff was just dropped by the drays, which puts to rest his possibiltiy of being traded
  11. if i was RJ i would still ask for that trade even after wat the Dbacks said. he is getting very close to the end of his career and doesnt have time to wait for another championship, plus the D-backs are definetly not going to go from 300-something winning percentage to a championship contender in one offseason
  12. i think that we are definelty going to sign at least two or three of those free agents, (lowe, tek, nomar and pedro) and we will probably give pedro around 14-15 mil. if we only got him, it would mean a very new team next year which wouldnt be very good for their team chemistry
  13. we did not sign him for his offense, we signed him for his FANTASTIC defense. any good offense he gives us (2 hr game) is a bonus. and defense is important...on a team with this many errors and unearned runs allowed? come on
  14. well the bottom line is that he will not get suspended a whole lot of games
  15. yea, i think nomar would be very difficult to replace and i think people forget that, also, johnson only has about another year or two out of him.
  16. if olerud was released by the Mariners, who suck, then he is not going to be a very worthy replacement, especially considering his age, i think delgado would be a very good replacement, though he would be hard to get.
  17. i agree, arroyo is a great developing starter. he has thrown some excellent games in which the opposing team scored little to no runs. i find his era and record very bad representation of his talent
  18. this all sounds a little bit high if you ask me, or maybe im just hoping it is a small suspension. i think that milton bradley's throwing of balls was musch more severe than ortiz so im guessing it will be less than 4 games, besides the ump was being an ass, he called that wicked late timeout and messed up pedro, and he called a ton of balls, proof of this is the fact that pedro threw like 50 or somethign "balls" , plus i dont think that the bats hit any umpires or came close, they landed along the 1st base line
  19. who is 100% correct?
  20. o lol yea he need to concentrate on baseball, not the chicken capital of the world
  21. i think tek is definetly the most important simply for his leadership skills. most people consider him to be the unofficial team captain and if he were to leave that would hurt the team significantly. it would also greatly affect the pitching staff, they would have to adjust to a new catcher and that would not be good
  22. how did you do that and what difference does the move make
  23. wait so who is being called fatso?
  24. yea i dont think the kent idea is going to go through, it was just a thought from peter gammons(who is awesome, sarasoxfan)
  25. i cant belive what you just said. say what you want about the 1b issue, and i must say that i am not all too concerned by it either, but NEVER dis THE peter gammons. this guy knows his stuff, he is unbelieveable--i still cant believe what you said
