  1. Youk of the Nation, Who says I am a Red Sox fan?
  2. Youk Of The Nation, You are very mean. Did I deserve being called asshat? So I got some facts wrong. Yes, my name is really Derek.
  3. >Ask Guardians fans and A's fans dont get excited after 1 game Right when the Guardians beat up the Mariners badly in 2001 (the Mariners that had a record number of wins), the Guardians still lost the series and their bats went cold... And Game 3 2003 ALCS, the Red Sox got walloped 17-8. Only to then go on a 7 game winning streak...
  4. Please PH Olerud for Millar right now....
  5. Good HR Manny, WISH someone else was on base, but I will take it....
  6. Tito is conceding this game already. I am convinced. He's looking ahead to tomorrow. Er um, I wish he would see the implications if the Guardians do mount a comeback today.
  7. Cleveland has to lose today so if we lose today and win tomorrow or lose tomorrow and today. We still have a chance to make Wild Card. Boston Globe summarizes it well as I keep referring to it. Playoff scenarios October 1, 2005 The Red Sox tied the Yankees for first in the AL East with a 5-3 win last night and moved one game ahead of Cleveland in the wild-card standings after the Guardians' 3-2 loss to the White Sox. A look at the possibilities for the AL East and wild card going into the weekend (the White Sox have clinched the Central and the Angels the West): If Sox 2-0 and Guardians 2-0: Boston 96-66 NY 94-68 Cleveland 95-67 Red Sox win the East and would host the Guardians (wild card) Tuesday at Fenway. If Sox 2-0 and Guardians 1-1: Boston 96-66 NY 94-68 Cleveland 94-68 Red Sox win the East; Cleveland and New York would play a one-game tiebreaker Monday in Cleveland for the wild card. If Cleveland wins, it would open against the Sox at Fenway. If New York wins, the Yankees would open at Chicago and the Sox would host the Angels. If Sox 2-0 and Guardians 0-2: Boston 96-66 NY 94-68 Cleveland 93-69 Red Sox win the East and would host the Angels Tuesday; Yankees would be the wild card and play at Chicago. If Sox 1-1 and Guardians 2-0: Boston 95-67 NY 95-67 Cleveland 95-67 The Red Sox and Yankees play Monday in New York; the winner will be the AL East champion. The loser plays Cleveland Tuesday for the wild card. The Guardians would host the Yankees, but play at Boston. If Sox 1-1 and Guardians 1-1: Boston 95-67 NY 95-67 Cleveland 94-68 The Yankees win the AL East because of a better season-series record against the Red Sox (10-9) and the Sox will be the wild card and play at Chicago Tuesday. If Sox 1-1 and Guardians 0-2: Boston 95-67 NY 95-67 Cleveland 93-69 The Yankees win the AL East because of a better season-series record against the Red Sox (10-9) and the Sox would be the wild card and play at Chicago Tuesday. If Sox 0-2 and Guardians 2-0: NY 96-66 Boston 94-68 Cleveland 95-67 The Yankees win the AL East and the Guardians are the wild card. If Sox 0-2 and Guardians 1-1: NY 96-66 Boston 94-68 Cleveland 94-68 The Yankees win the AL East and the Red Sox host the Guardians Monday in a one-game playoff for the wild card. If Sox 0-2 and Guardians 0-2: NY 96-66 Boston 94-68 Cleveland 93-69 The Yankees win the AL East and the Red Sox are the wild card and open at Chicago Tuesday.
  8. 4-1, white sox. 3 run HR by Iguchi
  9. It's a tie game with Cleveland and Chicago... Top of 7th inning, 1 out.
  10. Ok, I guess Tito is keeping Wake in..
  11. Postseason 2004, I couldn't handle Buck or McCarver. They can't call a game. They are so biased. Heck, Buck is just as bad calling NFL games. I put the volume on mute and listened to the call WEEI or ESPN sports radio.
  12. Playoff scenarios are very confusing. I am using this URL for all scenarios.. http://www.boston.com/sports/baseball/redsox/articles/2005/10/01/playoff_scenarios/
  13. The pitch count for RJ is what will make me more hopeful. He struck out Nixon and Mirabelli quickly. Graffanino and Damon fought hard too. 45 pitches..... If we get to their middle relief, it will be even better..
  14. I was SO happy last night that Olerud was starting. I had a sick feeling in my stomach today when I saw the lineup and Millar was starting.....
  15. RJ has been pitching very well the past few outings. He's found his fastball and his slider is kicking. Sox don't hit well against lefties. About Wake, Gammons on Baseball Tonight pointed out that today at Fenway, it's supposed to be sunny. This bodes well for Wake because the same conditions he pitched against BlueJays. The sun will be glaring at the hitters and they will have a hard time picking up the knuckleball. We just need the Guardians to lose both games. And if the Sox lose the next 2 games they are the Wild Card. I prefer the Red Sox to win both games, but it helps knowing they can get some help from the struggling Tribe (bunch of 1 run loses) to make the playoffs. I am mixed too because I live in Cleveland and bought playoff tickets in hopes of a ALDS match up (Guardians vs AL East Winners Red Sox). But I would rather have the Red Sox make playoffs than see a game live..
  16. Yes, I just pre-ordered it. July 26th can't come soon enough. Let's see, I own: 1) Reverse the Curse of the Bambino 2) 100 Year Red Sox History 3) Cowboy Up 4) Faith Rewarded 5)Still We Believe 6)MLB World Series 2004: Red Sox vs Cardinals 7)Downloaded every Red Sox 2004 Playoff game from MLB.com
  17. BREAKING SPORTS NEWS: Edgar Renteria signed a four-year, $40 million contract with the Red Sox today, giving Boston an All-Star shortstop, according to the Globe. http://www.boston.com/sports/baseball/reds...four_years_40m/ Ok now we need another SP....
  18. "Milton sucks, and will get massacred at Fenway. Maybe Pavano and Radke." Milton had a comeback year with the Phillies. His numbers would be way better if it had not been for Phillies bullpen and sporadic defense. Only reason why I know about Milton this past year is that I had him for Fantasy Baseball and I WATCHED him like a hawk......
  19. Hmm, maybe with the Unit and Pedro both going to Yankees and Mets, Sox can get Pavano and Milton. Pavano and Milton both younger guys have more life in them left than Pedro and RJ...... Perhaps this is what Epstein planned all along?
  20. I admit that last Thanksgiving 2003 I was actively searching every newspaper online for info regarding Schilling, Foulke and A Rod. When the Schilling and Foulke deal were done, anticipating Arod was even more crazy. Of course, in hingsight, not getting Arod proved pivotal for them winning the World Series.... I have been wondering all along how this offseason would be different from last year. How many times last year did we hear Arod coming to Boston was imminent? Now I just read on Boston Globe quoting from Providence Journal that the Sox are talking to the Dbacks about getting Randy Johnson. I have been wondering all along if the Sox were being hush about their targets. Of course, we will Steinbrenner step it up now and freak out..... I prefer to find out only when the deal is done.
  21. Just received this info from rotoworld.com. The News While a $65 million figure is being reported, a source with direct knowledge of the talks told the Boston Globe that Jason Varitek is requesting a five-year, $55 million contract with a no-trade clause. Our Take The Red Sox have gone to three years and $27 million with an option for a fourth year. That seems pretty generous to us. If Varitek, a one-time All-Star who turns 33 in April, really thinks he's worth more than that, the Red Sox should set about proving they can win without him.
  22. The article says possible discounts on Sox merchandise. If anything someone should just run a website to "register" the Red Sox nation and see how many there are. MLB will make money from it..
  23. I live in the Cleveland area and I am a Red Sox fan. My brother in law played colllege ball at Loyola Marymount with Billy Traber. Before the surgery, he was really good. This could be a steal because he's a lefty (I always thought the Sox would only win the WS with a lefty SP-ok I was wrong there). Low risk, but high reward with this guy... Go Theo.
