  1. If Okajima's left arm is still attached to his shoulder, shouldn't he be pitching here?
  2. Man, it's nice to have that happen for us rather than against us for a change!
  3. Ugggh... wish GameCast didn't stink so much today. It's like getting a live feed from the surface of Mars.
  4. What is this, buy one-error-get-two-free day? EDIT: Or is Ellsbury just making the fielders really nervous?
  5. That might also be the "I wish my fielders didn't give the other team 7 outs this inning" look.
  6. Sheer coincidence. Anyone's SLG can jump 100 points for no reason. Just ask Sosa, Bonds, Palmeiro, McGwire, or Giambi. They'll all tell you the same thing.
  7. Just checking the Brewers' stats and it appears that their 1 and 2 hitters are below the Mendoza line. Now, I'm no professional manager, buut don't you usually put those guys, uh, near the bottom of the lineup? Or do they do things differently in the NL?
  8. Has anyone on this board officially welcomed Gabe Kapler back to Fenway? I always liked that guy for some reason. I saw him when he was a Ranger, and all the girls in the RF seats were yelling, "Gaaaa-abe! Oh, Gaaaa-abe!" at him. Good times.
  9. And that's what Okajima is excellent at... starting innings.
  10. That worked out great. Why bring in Okajima when Hansen has been pitching OK (infield single, long tough AB to Roberts)? Meh.
  11. Should we be scared about having Youk in RF? Has he ever played the outfield? On the other hand, I guess I trust him as emergency outfielder as much as anyone else.
  12. Indeed. More of that, please.
  13. Oh yeah... besides that one?
  14. Interesting fact #73: Morneau is the only starter for either team without a hit.
  15. Squandering men on 1st and 2nd with no outs is our particular specialty. It'll be interesting to see how we do it this time.
  16. All that is required is a sufficient number of pitches judged to be outside the strike zone. Oh... that's not what you were asking...
  17. I was about to ask the same thing myself. Given that we've scored (IIRC) the 2nd most runs in the majors, I doubt it -- we do drive guys in. But I'll leave it to the stats guys to provide the real answer.
  18. Dang... you'd have to be hitting like Ted Williams to make up for that kind of ineptitude. Let's see -- I don't have the stats right in front of me... could someone check and see if Lugo is hitting like Ted Williams?
  19. Gotcha. Gamecast didn't show that. Thanks.
