    Oh, I forgot one thing. We hung 9 on Moyer and 9 on Blanton. I don't see any reason not to do the same to Hamels tomorrow!

    Lot of heroes today (yes, I am contributing to the dumbing-down of the word 'hero'). Drew, Nava, and the whole bullpen, for starters. Ugh-- it's after midnight here so I'm going to hit it. 'Night, all.

    I wish for once, just once, when some baserunner is lazily taking 2nd base in the last inning of a blowout, the catcher would say, "I got your indifference right here, sucka!" and nail him to end the game. That would be beautiful.

    Yeah, even Atchison didn't really do that poorly -- just managed to get all of his baserunners clumped together so it led to runs. But like I said earlier, the Phillies are awful right now. Fidel Castro could pitch 3 shutout innings against the current Phillies.

    The game's going well, but really the Phillies are a AA club right now. As far as impressiveness goes, it ranks right up there with the Yankees beating the Astros.

    These guys are just taking the Phillies' starters out behind the shed and beating them with an ax handle. Figuratively speaking, of course.

    I'd say Atchison did his job. 2 runs in an emergency fill-in start, got us through 3 innings... not perfect but not totally abysmal either. Now he hands off to...?

    Sounds like a Pedroia kind of guy, in a way. No one ever took him seriously because he's dinky. All he ever did was pound the ball. But he's dinky, so the numbers don't count. He's got like a .960 OPS in his Red Sox minor league career. Nine frickin' sixty. I'd love to see him kill the ball tonight. Also, he's playing LF so I hope he's wearing a flak jacket. Gotta protect those ribs, you know.

    This gamethread started off so well. The Cleveland tourism video was a riot. "This train is carrying jobs out of Cleveland!" Then it just went doooooownhill. Oy vey.

    This we can all agree on. Side point: does anyone ever game the gamethreads, so to speak? What I mean is, you see that we've got series coming up with Baltimore and Cleveland (with Buch and Lester on the bump to begin with, no less), so you say, "Good chance for a little run here... I'll start the next game thread!" Or is it supposed to be done dispassionately?
