  1. Who's this "Cameron" guy batting for the Red Sox...?
  2. I have to give Jacko credit. IIRC, he predicted that if the Sox won the 2nd game vs. the Yanks, we would go on a tear. And we have done that. Elsewhere, I voiced a hope (not a prediction) that we would get 3 good turns out of the rotation and go on a 12-3 or 13-2 run. We're in the process of doing that, with noticeable effects on the standings. I'm actually worried about our next 14 games against the scrubs of the league (OK, the A's aren't exactly scrubs at .500, but they're no Rays). Here's what I'm afraid of -- we finish a veeery tough stretch against the creme de la creme with a 7-3 or 8-2 record (probably 7-3 since the pitching matchup tonight is unfavorable). We're pleased, the players are pleased, everyone is smiling and prancing around like unicorns. I'm just afraid of a let-down in the next few series, especially the next one. We have Dice-K and Wakefield going in the first two games, and we all know that they're both capable of laying a stinker. Then we face Greinke in Game 3... admittedly, Lester should make corned beef hash out of the Royals' lineup, but Greinke's OK, too. What I don't want to see is an unexpectedly tough series against the Royals, a loss of momentum, etc. So... let's hope for more good pitching, more Papi renaissance, and overtaking the Jays and Yanks within the next 10 games.
  3. Oh right. Forgot about that. He probably doesn't have much life on his fastball right now.
  4. So... Tazawa gets the start?
  5. Dude, that is a total reverse lock.
  6. Love that dirty cheesesteak.
  7. Oh. Well, what I'm trying to say is... Uh, never mind. He does have more innings out of the BP than anyone on the team, last I checked (which was admittedly a few days ago).
  8. Hasn't Bard earned a day off or so?
  9. Pretty disastrous for the Phillies.
  10. Heckuva night for Dice-K anyway. 8 IP, one lousy bloop single.
  11. As Dipre said, there's no team on earth that can play like this every day. Obviously you're not going to get 7 innings of no-hit ball out of your starter on a regular basis. But it's still pretty amazing to think that the same team can make you say, "Will they ever win another game? :(" on one day and "Holy cow we're unbeatable! :)" on the next.
  12. Varitek. No-hitters. It's a beautiful combination.
  13. ZOMG the C's are going postal on the Magic. 41-19.
  14. Let's assume for the sake of argument that Dice goes 6 or 7 no-hit innings. Do you use the front-line bullpen guys in order to preserve the no-hitter, or the scrubs because we're up 5 and the game is fairly well in hand?
  15. Too bad Dice-K wasn't a bit more efficient early on. He's got, what, maybe two innings left in the tank?
  16. I know this is the wrong thread and all, but I'd just like to note that it's 27-12 Celtics after the 1st. That is not a misprint. Looks like a serious beating is in the offing.
  17. Allowing baserunners, but only by walks. That's all we'll say about that.
  18. And Drew and Ortiz. Man, I love 2-out hitting. Looks like Dice-K run support mojo is in full swing.
  19. And TB is laying a beating on the Yankees, which is nice too.
