    Honestly, Nava's too valuable right now (strange as it is to type that). The guy with the 1+ OPS shouldn't be risking arm blow out. Hey, if it's a total blowout and we just need someone to risk career-ending shoulder injury, maybe we should go with Aceves.

    I know it's irrational, but (emotionally) I'd almost rather give up a double than a walk. OK, there are some situations where you have to nibble and you accept the possibility of a walk. Otherwise, it's pretty frustrating to see the free pass. Uh... two balks?

    Right now, I classify the Punto trade in the "epic win" category. If Webster pans out as a serviceable #3, it will cross into "win of Biblical proportions." If Rubby pans out too, even as a back-of-the-rotation innings-eater, it will move into Heathcliff Slocumb territory.

    Thanks. The countries I work in are very stable, at least by local standards. I feel safer here than I would in a lot of places in the States.

    Suburbia of Richmond. I was there from 5th grade through college. Tenderest years in ME, which explains the Sox fandom.

    Briefly, so as not to clog up the GT, I'm kind of a combination missionary and linguist. I help African language communities a) develop their languages (literacy and such) and translate the Bible into their languages. I've been in lovely Benin (just to the west of Nigeria) since 2002, but I grew up in VA, mostly.

    I think Farrell did the exact same thing last time Doubie pitched: left him in (questionably) to get the final out of the 5th. Which he got that time, too.
