  1. Well, past midnight here again and no compelling reason to stay up watching this one, so I'm gone. I expect to read of our miraculous comeback tomorrow morning.
  2. You know, honestly, I find this kind of game kind of relaxing. Of course, I'd rather it be relaxing because we have the huge lead, but it's relaxing anyway. I mean, baseball teams are going to lose a lot of games every year, and every once in a while it's going to look like this. I'm sure all of these guys have gotten beaten worse than this plenty of times. Confidence will return just as soon as Lester is mowing people down.
  3. Are you implying that I do?
  4. And Aceves himself is coming off the bench to hit both of them! At the same time!
  5. Just got mine yesterday, woot woot. ...though I've been here juuust a bit longer than you, so my posting rate might not be quite as high.
  6. What say we just forfeit and save the 'pen?
  7. Honestly, Nava's too valuable right now (strange as it is to type that). The guy with the 1+ OPS shouldn't be risking arm blow out. Hey, if it's a total blowout and we just need someone to risk career-ending shoulder injury, maybe we should go with Aceves.
  8. Which is why they need to score at least a couple dozen runs.
  9. You know, I was wondering who this year's Darnell McD is. Which position player gets pitch if we need one?
  10. So it's finally over after 5 outs and 5 free bases. Huzzah!
  11. Not that I disagree with you, but who is getting 18 outs from the bullpen tonight?
  12. I know it's irrational, but (emotionally) I'd almost rather give up a double than a walk. OK, there are some situations where you have to nibble and you accept the possibility of a walk. Otherwise, it's pretty frustrating to see the free pass. Uh... two balks?
  13. Right now, I classify the Punto trade in the "epic win" category. If Webster pans out as a serviceable #3, it will cross into "win of Biblical proportions." If Rubby pans out too, even as a back-of-the-rotation innings-eater, it will move into Heathcliff Slocumb territory.
  14. In about two months we'll be calling WMB "Lil' Laser Show".
  15. Thanks. The countries I work in are very stable, at least by local standards. I feel safer here than I would in a lot of places in the States.
  16. Pushing 1 AM here, so I'm out of here. Hopefully we can keep the A's to 5 runs or less for their next 9 outs. Have a splendid evening, all.
  17. Suburbia of Richmond. I was there from 5th grade through college. Tenderest years in ME, which explains the Sox fandom.
  18. Nap's been good. I'm pretty sure he is going to be worth the $5 million.
  19. Definitely wanted Laser Show to make this one Miller-proof. Still, 6 up is nothing to sneeze at.
  20. I was soooo tired of watching Napoli destroy us. Glad to see him doing the same destroying, but with the correct uni on. Guy must have a career OPS of 3.000 against the Sox...
  21. Briefly, so as not to clog up the GT, I'm kind of a combination missionary and linguist. I help African language communities a) develop their languages (literacy and such) and translate the Bible into their languages. I've been in lovely Benin (just to the west of Nigeria) since 2002, but I grew up in VA, mostly.
  22. I'm in West Africa. The Internet for the whole country would melt if I tried to stream video.
  23. What happened? GameCast is giving me fits.
