I can go through a f***ing laundry list.
-They're all tired. As a result, their jumpers are coming up short at the end of the game, they're missing defensive rotations, the 4th tonight was a mess. KG hasn't been his usual emotional self (he's been more emotional than 99% of players in the NBA still, but he's usually wound up 10 times more than he has been, he's obviously most tired). Ray's been cold, because his legs are tired, it's all around.
-Our depth isn't bad, it's more the size. Big Baby and Powe are undersized and over-matched against bigger guys. They were up to Yao's shoulders and Yao was going over the top at will.
-In the recent stretch, Rondo has been god-awful save for a game or two. He's the key to this offense.
-Tony Allen being out doesn't help, but it's giving Pruitt time to play (he played awesome tonight, he hit his shots and made limited mistakes in 15 minutes). I'd rather go with Pruitt over Marbury because he's got a year in the system, knows the guys, the plays, and the team. I love Pruitt, he's a real good kid.
-We take every teams best punch every night. Teams aren't scared of us like they were last year.
-We've been the victim of hot teams. Felton his a ridiculous jumper to push the game out far enough so we couldn't win and we could only force OT which we did (when I say ridiculous, he was like, off balance, falling away, from 20 feet, awesome shot, but he wouldn't hit it again in 10 tries). Tonight, Von Wafer and Aaron Brooks were hot as hell, and Yao was just too big. I don't understand why Doc kept Big Baby on him, especially when KG was on the floor too.
I could go on, but I think it's all correctable, save for adding length. God I'd love to see Joe Smith here... Scalabrine and Giddens/Walker for him. Do it Danny.
Edit: One more thing. The second unit has seen a decline in production for a few major reasons. Tony Allen has been banged up, Davis is taking jumpers (he's hitting them though, thankfully) and not banging down low, and Leon has been trying to draw the contact as opposed to putting the ball in the hoop.
