  1. I don't see it happening, but the Blue Jays could have the best pitching staff in the AL East with Halladay and Burnett leading them. Their offense should score 800 runs, and their probably above average at each position. That bullpen could be among the AL's best. Ryan, is the AL's version of Billy Wagner, and the rest of the 'pen fills out nicely with Chulk, Schoenweis, Speier, Frasor, and Downs. Plus, watch out for Dustin McGowan, he'll be in the starting rotation for good come June.
  2. Not really. Perry and Rosenthal have different opinions, that isn't a contradiction. Rosenthal, is actually half way right. If everything falls the Red Sox way, they'll win 100 games, but I don't see the Red Sox losing less then 90. They have way too much depth. Hell, if the Red Sox can win 95 games with Jon Halama, and Jeremi Gonzalez getting starts last year, how in the world can they lose more games this year?
  3. Millar hit 25 HR's for possibly the greatest offensive team in the history of baseball. Millar's contributions with his bat was probably his best contribution. In 2004, every offensive player besides Orlando Cabrera had an OBP over .373. The rotation featured three starters with an ERA at 4.00, plus a lights out closer. Team chemistry probably had a little bit to do with the WS win, but the Red Sox were the best team in baseball that year.
  4. If anyone wants to check out the live boxscore via MLB Gameday, here's the link http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/gameday/y2006/gd.html?2006_03_28_bosmlb_cinmlb_1&brand=mlb
  5. I sent you the money. It came back in the mail. Said it wasn't a valid address. Post your address again.
  6. That was his first spring training outing. He was recently throwing 91 mph against the Twins. He should be OK come opening day.
  7. Johnson, Mussina, Wang, Chacon, and ?. Who would be the 5th starter?
  8. I'll help. Did you read that article in the NY Post, about Matt DelSalvo? It said that the Yankees might break camp with him as the 5th starter. Personally, I'd rather break camp with Aaron Small then this guy.
  9. You're wrong though, not a single major cable provider carries the Discovery Channel as a basic package. You have to upgrade to get that. That's a bad analogy. Fox and ABC are major news networks, and are enjoyed by a wide audience. Fox and ABC on basic cable services are often offered cheaply. When you receive the YES Network, CableVision is forced to up the cost, because the amount that the YES Network charges to be carried. Besides, you don't really think the Yankees are that popular do you? You can't seriously compare Fox to the YES Network, or even the Discovery Channel.
  10. Lester can't throw strikes this spring, let's cut him too. I have no idea why you'd consider cutting Seanez until he shows he can't do it in the majors. Seanez last year posted a 3.82 K/BB ratio (sounds like good control), and a 12.5 K/9 ratio. Plus, when Seanez is on, he's nearly unhittable. Here's a blurb about Seanez over at ESPN So you want to cut a guy who's coming off two pretty solid seasons for an unproven rookie? If Seanez or Riske don't cut it, then Hansen can come in. But, why rush Hansen right now? You're not factoring in the potential pitfalls of a whole season. What if you cut Seanez and Riske, but Timlin is hurt, or what if Foulke goes down? We need as much depth as possible, it wouldn't be wise to cut at that.
  11. How smug and stupid. Not a single service offers the Discovery Channel in basic cable, and besides even if it was the citizens are still being unfairly taxed. If I don't want the Discovery Channel, which by far is a premium service channel, I shouldn't have to pay for it. The YES network unlike your example is put on a basic cable service. That means, an 88 year old couple who doesn't even like baseball have to pay extra rates to get a channel they'll never watch. By the way, the Discovery Channel is offered via the STANDARD SERVICE through Time Warner. That's a difference from the Basic Service. EDIT* Found an article that proves that YES is a basic service channel. http://www.cablevision.com/index.jhtml;jsessionid=0KYM23NPUG3EQCQFSALCFEQ?id=2004_03_24
  12. Who said anything about being clutch? Riske won't have to pitch in tight games, he can be extremely effective in eating innings, and posting a low ERA. If we can get a repeat of his '05 numbers that's fine with me.
  13. When the YES network launched its on cable network, it demanded two things. One, an excessive payment per customer to the YES Network, per month. Two, the YES Network is made part of basic cable. So, being part of basic cable means that the YES Network collects from EVERYONE who owns basic cable. That means that a local Mets fan who wants nothing to do with YES still must pay the extra fee per month. Seeing as there is no competion for cable in New York, the Yankees extract a s*** load of money that other markets couldn't dream of doing.
  14. Actually, that was a joke. I hoped you would pick up on the scoring "outside of" the ballpark. Take a wild guess. What radio station ranks ahead of WFAN without televised radio? Would that be WEEI? It turns out the better the quality of the show is, the more viewers it gets. Which speaks facts the quality of Mike and the Mad Dog. Another thing about the YES Network. How despicable is it that EVERY citizen of New York is unfairly taxed so that George Steinbrenner can finance his baseball team. That's what you call extortion, and that's why the YES network still sucks.
  15. You missed the point of the post. The real point was the third sentence. Wow, I can't believe I thought of something like that. Unless you're over 21, you aren't going to have much fun in Tampa.
  16. No, you really don't. Unless you like old people, which Florida is crawling all over with. (STUNNING REVELATION OVER AT THE "LOOSE CHANGE THREAD") Sorry, I had to post that.
  17. Of course you love the YES Network, you're a Yankee fan. Oh, they have the largest market, hence explaining the popularity. I actually tried to watch the Yankeeography, (how the hell did that win an Oscar, well that Pimp song won one so that explains a lot) lots of tidbits on useless players. Seriously, I know Luis Polonia scored a lot outside of the ballpark, but did he really deserve a show? Other shows on the YES network, Yogi and a Movie. That speaks for itself. It doesn't help that they showed the Bad News Bears go to Japan. The only bad news was the s***** box office turnouts. They also show Mike and the Mad Dog, ON TV! What the hell?! Radio talk shows are for the radio ONLY. Yankees Classics are bit overrated. Other teams show that on other networks. Except they don't gush over them, they simply call them repeats. I hate NESN, other than the Red Sox games, why shouldn't you hate YES?
  18. Why should Hansen be up right now? The Red Sox have two fairly competent bullpen guys in Riske and Seanez. You guys are saying the Red Sox should swallow three million dollars so the young guy gets a chance. Throw this into the equation. Delcarmen is unable to throw strikes and has to go back to AAA ball, Hansen shows he isn't ready either. Where do the Red Sox go for backups? Do they continue to allow Hansen and Delcarmen to get bombed, or pick off the scrap heaps of other teams? (a la 2005) If Riske and Seanez struggle two months into the season, they can be released or traded, so Hansen and Delcarmen can step in, fresh from two months at AAA ball. Besides, when the hell did everyone get their degrees in ESP? Riske and Seanez are coming off tremendous years. What makes everyone sure that they are going to fail?
  19. s***** show. s***** actors. s***** Network. YES Network sumed up for you. (The games are OK to watch though.)
  20. That's understandable, seeing as that Boone and Blake are both ahead of him. He'll be up for good come June.
  21. BC lost because they fell asleep with three seconds left on the clock. Seriously, how the hell do you allow someone to get that wide open?
  22. I wouldn't say he lied, but he kinda said things at the time to please the fans. Johnny Damon had every intention to re-sign with the Boston Red Sox, but in his opinion, he was disrespected. They Yankees swooped in with a higher offer, and Damon took it. Damon probably doesn't give two shits about the rivarly, he just wanted to get paid.
  23. It's possible, but extremely unlikely. Unless Cliff Floyd is sniped by a rabid Braves fan, there is no match for the Red Sox to move Manny Ramirez. I just don't see how people are drawing the links of a Hee Seop Choi waiver wire pickup, to a trade of two regulars.
  24. I don't know how you can expect a big trade. The Red Sox have just about all of their postions filled. Unless you count Dustin Mohr for Rheal Cormier as a big trade, I'm rather curious to know what you meant.
  25. Who knows? It's probably likely he'll rot in AAA. This really has no risk, but may I ask, why?
