  1. Buster Olney made a pretty good point in his chat today on ESPN.com He's probably right, there's no reason why they should overbid for Zito.
  2. Yeah, that's not going to happen. The White Sox wouldn't dream of moving Buerhle. Who would they even dangle to make the White Sox think about it? Full of contradictions in your point here. Which one is it? Right now, the Yankees can't be satisfied with their rotation. Randy Johnson looks old, and over the hill. His stuff can't get any better. He's a 42 year old pitcher, with no knees, with a declining fastball/slider combo. Jaret Wright is done, he had one good year in 2004, and cashed in on it. Wang's been awfully lucky to be at his current ERA. His 18/14 K/BB ratio isn't going to get it done in the AL. Same thing with Chacon, his WHIP is at 1.44, and he's due for a serious rise in his ERA. Beckett won't be stay the same. He's just hit a rough stretch, after starting on fire. Beckett is probaby something in between. (3.50 ERA) His career numbers indicate that he's clearly a better pitcher than what he is showing right now. Plus he's only 25, and only going to get better. As for the panic mood, the Red Sox staff is terrible, Schilling, Wakefield, Beckett, and Clement have all pitched well. Clement is being weighed down be one bad start, and Beckett as previously mentioned should rebound. Even if the Red Sox look to improve the rotation, it would only a fifth starter kind of player, ala Chacon. Because, there is no way in hell, the Red Sox part with three Top 5 prospects for a half season rental.
  3. Why does NESN insist on playing these terrible songs?
  4. Wins- 4 Runs- 29
  5. Texas should have scored 6 runs last night, but they keep hitting a wall called clutch hittng.
  6. Oh, sorry. Misunderstood what you were trying to say.
  7. CBS4boston.com reports that Greater Media has withdrawn its bid to broadcast Red Sox radio games for the upcoming season.
  8. I know your name is Optimist, but you were impressed by Wang last start?
  9. Who pitches in relief for the Yankees tonight? Proctor/Myers/Rivera?
  10. I don't know, the Orioles look ready to give up on this game.
  11. I'll blast you, because you called yourself smart.
  12. Overrated? No, not at all. Overpaid? Yes.
  13. Changed my mind. Seanez will probably turn it around. Opponents bat .159 off Seanez throughout his entire career. This year they're hitting .318. I don't think Seanez' stuff looks that bad, or his strikeouts (14 in 9.1 IP) wouldn't be so high. If he mixes in his offspeed stuff more, he should be OK.
  14. Foulke- .89 WHIP 4.26 ERA 16 K's in 18 IP Take it back. Now. As for Seanez, well good ole' Rudy, won't be trotting out of that bullpen in a close game.
  15. Schilling's injury was his ankle, and it never was chronic. Beckett's move to a colder climate, with less humidity should help his blisters. He hasn't had any problems so far. So, you're banking on injury to derail, the Red Sox pitching staff? 'Cause, that's what it seemed like your saying.
  16. God, you're a idiot. I didn't say that it was a guarantee, did I? Oh, wait I did. Because it won't f***ing happen. You make an absolutely terrible point. How can you compare Curt Schilling, and Josh Beckett to those names on that list? Schilling, and Beckett are both potential Cy Young winners, and therefore it's whole lot less likely that they have a regression. You don't actually believe Proctor, (who was saved by Myers) will keep his ERA that low? He's a great mop-up guy, but you hail him as a potenial domiant reliever. There's just one major problem, HE LACKS CONTROL. 10 walks in 17 innings, that isn't good. Unless he becomes unhittable, his control problems will destroy him. Just run through your pitching staff, the ones with career numbers, are pitching way over their heads. Villone? His career ERA is 4.72, but 36 year old relievers suddenly become dominant, right?
  17. Club option for 2.2 million. He can be cut, and a buyout can be paid. He makes 1.9 million, this year. I have July 8th, Hansen should be ready by then.
  18. Does anyone else think Andy Phillips looks a little bit like Tom Brady?
  19. You just gave me 26 reasons to hate you. Scott Proctor will never have an ERA at 1.60 the whole year. (His control still isn't there) Tanyon Sturtze (no explanation needed) Randy Johnson looks merely average. Shawn Chacon tries to walk as much batters as he strikes out. Aaron Small was an aberration, if his ERA is under 5.00, Hell will seriously freeze over. Villone's never been good, I can't see how his ERA will stay that low. Same goes with the Moose, his ERA will rise. (Though he could have a 3.20 ERA by year's end) Wang, can't strike anyone out, and when he can't throw his sinker, he's terrible. Oh, and Jaret Wright. Dotel could be OK though. In conclusion, if you ask any baseball expert, they'll tell you the Red Sox pitching staff is better. You can't actually expect the Yankees pitching staff to keep up that status quo, do you? If you do, that's total bias on your behalf.
  20. No, this is probably what it's going to look like all year. 10-9, 15-3 kind of wins. Any team with something called a "pitching staff" (that's actually a marvelous thing, you see) can handle the Yankees.
