  1. What the f*** is wrong with you? Stop making stuff up.
  2. OK, but the way he worded it, made him sound like a douche.
  3. We should find a guy who would do it for $100,000.
  4. Seattle is destroying Tampa, 11-2.
  5. Great command, but weak stuff. I don't see anything other than middle relief fodder.
  6. Yeah, like Michael Bowden?
  7. If I were the Nationals, I'd cut him loose and let the Red Sox eat that money. Theo should have seen if he could have gotten Johnson + Guzman + cash for a decent minor leaguer. Would have saved us some cash, and freed Theo to focus on a pitcher.
  8. In only one year have Guzman's isolated walk skills been .50 points higher than his batting average. If Guzman is hitting .270, I'll bet his OBP is barely at .300. Throw in his defensive deficiencies, and Guzman would be a useless regular. About as useless as Green. It wouldn't be a surprise in the least to see Guzman hit .270 for the Red Sox. He'd represent no upgrade, and cost $10 million.
  9. Sure, but what do those numbers look like after you adjust for league difficulty, and add his defensive weaknesses. Does it look like a significant upgrade?
  10. Mormonism or The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
  11. He'd be better than Guzman.
  12. Guzman constantly scrapes the bottom in terms of UZR and FRAA. He's not Derek Jeter bad, but he's down there. The Red Sox should go after Hanley Ramirez in 2010.
  13. Field better? Not even close. Guzman is an awful fielder. The marginal upgrade is definitely not worth $10 million dollars. Use that money to bring in Matt Holliday, or keep Jason Bay.
  14. That point has been debunked by BP. There's no solid evidence that a new 3B has any impact on the SS. Besides, even if it were true, Guzman would be losing Ryan Zimmerman and Anderson Hernandez, who are both extremely quality defenders. How? What? He's never played at inning at either position. Of course not, which is the main reason why we should avoid bringing him in. $8 million netted the Rays, Pat Burrell last year. I expect the Red Sox can use the $10 million owed to Guzman, in order to bring in someone who can really impact the standings. I'm not convinced that Guzman is in the other category. Especially, since he'll be moving to the tougher league.
  15. Dojji is making some excellent points. Guzman is a terrible player. He doesn't play the field well, as evidence of his -9 FRAA. His OPS is inflated by his batting average, which is being sustained by an insanely lucky BABIP. However, he is an upgrade over Nick Green, and can platoon with Lowrie when he gets back. Still, I don't like the idea of being stuck paying $8 million for Guzman next season, especially since the Red Sox can use that to get a player of substantially more quality.
