  1. What the hell does that even mean? s***, a person that calls Yankee Stadium, "Skankee" Stadium is certaintly a Rhodes Scholar. Anyway, I don't see how you guys can say why adding Lugo would be a bad idea. The guy's a good defensive SS, who has an OPS of .885. That's .150 points higher then Gonzalez's. He may be costly, but Gonzalez is probably going to turn his good year into a long term extenstion. I wouldn't be shocked to see him get three years around six million per.
  2. Aaron Small converted into a hitter.
  3. Re-read his argument. It's a pretty good one. He believes that Duquette is unfairly bashed. Which is kind of true. If the New York Yankees weren't in the AL, that number of ALCS' would go up.
  4. Oh, you don't want Lugo? OK, now I definitely want him.
  5. Theo was a Red Sox assistant for a while. If you look in the chapter The Trading Desk, and read about Youkilis, you will see where Epstein encourages his owner to shoot down the Youkilis trade.
  6. I don't think you were. You made a mistake, he made a mistake. No one's judging you over a spelling mistake.
  7. Epstein is the reason why Youkilis wasn't traded. Beane almost poached him in 2002, but Epstein told Henry to hold on to him.
  8. I heard 5 X 8. He may want that, but I don't expect him to get it. He'll probably come down to the 8 million dollar range, which is fair for a SS of his quality.
  9. Did you look that up to verify that claim? Lugo's OPS is almost 150 points higher then Gonzalez's. Who, by the way is having a "good year" at the plate. Lugo may be a downgrade defensively, but he won't be that big of a dropoff. Lugo's got good range, and a pretty good arm. Plus, he can steal a bag or two. I'd go with Gonzalez for the rest of the year, and sign Lugo to a 4 year $28 million contract
  10. Ramirez played on some pretty good Cleveland Indian offenses. That's probably why he drove in some many runs. Driving in Vizquel and Alomar when they're getting on 40% of time is easier then driving in Young, and Everett when they're getting on 30% of the time.
  11. Sarcasm. I fully endorse the Pena trade. I don't think Arroyo's stuff translate into an American League winner. Oh, and if Pena ever approaches a .361 OBP, Theo is a god.
  12. I think Soriano is a different player. He's on pace to more then double his walks. Maybe he's learned something, maybe not, but if you've got a chance to acquire this guy for Lance Broadway or Brandon McCarthy, I'd do it.
  13. Statistics show that Rodriguez is the tougher out in the postseason, and was a tougher out in the clutch in 2005 then David Ortiz. Besides, Ortiz isn't going anywhere. He'd be able to pick up for Rodriguez. Also, Ortiz is a good teammate, and a buddy of Rodriguez. If Ortiz was a Yankee, he probably wouldn't sit back and let Rodriguez take this. That's why I don't get the love obsession with Jeter. Where has he been this year? Rudy G, is a better teammate then Jeter is. Anyway, the salary difference between Rodriguez and Ramirez is not that much. In fact, Ramirez makes more then Rodriguez if you count the money that goes toward the Texas Rangers. I remember the "brawl" and the "slap", but I've forgotten about that. It happened two years ago. In fact, I'm more disappointed at the Red Sox fans for inventing, Gay-Rod, Slappy McBlueLips, and A-Fraud. Look at it this way, you got a chance to acquire the best SS in baseball. Why would you turn that down? I love Manny, but c'mon, Carlos Lee and Rodriguez, or Ramirez and Lugo/Gonzalez?
  14. Why do you hate him? If A-Rod were to play for the Boston Red Sox tommorow, he'd have me as a fan, because he is a Red Sox. That's more then good enough reason to me. Just for the record, when did A-Rod become Whitey Bulger?
  15. Apparently, it isn't easy as it looks. If Wily Mo Pena is going to hit 31 HR's with a .361 OBP, wow that's terrible. I miss Bronson.
  16. Skankee Stadium? wow thats liek soooooo orginal....
  17. The example I'm trying to put out there is the Manny Ramirez situation. Remember when Ramirez started slow last year? Hell, even this year. The fans were supportive of him, and no one really worried whether he would pick it up. In New York, they booed Derek Jeter when he was batting .162. I believe that New York's fan base is much harsher then that of Boston's. A move to Fenway would probably help Rodriguez. It's easy to say that right now, you'd boo Alex Rodriguez if he was a Red Sox, but honestly, I don't think I'd do that until he showed us that he can't play up to an elite level. Right now, Rodriguez has 21 HR's which probably goes up to 25 or 26 HR's in Boston. I don't think any would have a problem with that kind of production. The clutch argument has to go as well. Last year, Rodriguez was the tougher out in the late situation then Ortiz was. Besides, Ortiz isn't going anywhere. He'd be able to pick up for Rodriguez. Ramirez value in the outfield is a bit overblown. He gets a lot of assists mainly because he plays a deep shortstop rather then a left field. I'm guessing Lee would probably come close to matching Ramriez, defensively. (Not saying Ramirez hasn't been better in left, but the guy isn't a gold glover) Thank you sir, as do you. Oh, and yes. Rodriguez would play SS.
  18. Juan Acevedo was the closer for a little bit in 2003.
  19. 30 HR's in spacious RFK isn't good? What else does he have to do?
  20. Coco Crisp is coming off a broken thumb which is probably hampering his production. Last year, he hit 16 HR's as a 25 year old and posted an OPS higher then Johnny Damon. He already signed a three-year deal to keep him in Boston through 2009. I envision him playing CF or possibly sliding over to LF to make room for Ellsbury. Writing him off as saying he has low power seems a bit rash. Wily Mo Pena is currently hitting .322, and walking 10% of the time. He's also mashing RH pitching this year, hitting at a .394 clip. He probably won't keep all this up, but if he continues to progress (the kid is only 24 years old) he should be legitimate #4 hitter in any lineup. He might approach the strikeout record, but when you're hitting .280/.330/.570 with 40 HR's, why would you care? Plus, being surronded by Ortiz and Ramirez should help him. The prospects you listed strike me as fourth outfield types. Murphy might break in as a regular, but not over Pena. Soto was an international free agent, who exhibits little plate discipline, and hasn't shown the power that I keep hearing about. Though, in fairness to Soto, he's been hurt. Moss is another fourth outfielder type. Not enough power for a COF. Ellsbury and Place maybe the two regulars, but Place is only 18, it's too hard to project him as a big leaguer right now. I'd give him a year then take a guess. Anyway, if I had to say who'd be in our outfield in 2010, it would be: LF: Crisp CF: Ellsbury RF: Pena
  21. but kapPy is h0tt.
  22. I thought they'd go for a pitcher. That starting rotation doesn't scare anyone right now. Contreas is the only pitcher with a sub 4 ERA, and Burehle is hovering around 4.5. I don't see what Soriano is going to accomplish. Though he'd be sizeable upgrade over Anderson.
