  1. Not impressed. The Tigers needed an impact bat. Casey isn't. In fact, he puts a lower OPS against right-handed pitching then Shelton does. (.809 to .759) I'm disappointed, I expected a Soriano, not Casey.
  2. Heh, I indicated that the Twins pitchers were worse. Oops. Right now, I think the Tigers will win the division, and the Twins will get the WC. (But really, doesn't this BS happen every year? Some team always threatens for the Wild Card, but it always lands in the East.) Kason Gabbard is probably a future mop-up guy. He allowed 10 baserunners in those 5.1 IP. He won't get away with that again.
  3. Schilling, Mussina > Santana Beckett, Wang > Liriano Johnson (eh, who really cares. You'll already be down 2-0)
  4. Abreu's faster, but Nixon is the better glove man.

  6. Yeah, one play is definitive of how good a player is. Anderson is a legitimate GG out there in CF. Crisp is a corner, playing CF. FRAR- Anderson - 21 Crisp - 4 FRAA Anderson - 10 Crisp - -3
  7. No way should this guy be up.
  8. Holy s***. Pena breaks his bat, and almost hits it out.
  9. I don't think he's going to be worth his salary in 2007 or 2008, but at the time being, it is an upgrade for the Yankees.
  10. Loretta makes 6 errors a year. Lugo makes 20 errors a year. Statistics show that Lugo gets to about 75 to 100 more balls then Loretta gets to. Therefore, at it's crudest measurement. Lugo has created about 50 more outs then Loretta.
  11. According to baseballprospectus, Loretta is below average. His FRAA is -4.
  12. Or average.
  13. Sigh. That only tells us that Loretta makes plays that are hit toward him. It tells us nothing of Loretta's range, or other defensive skills. Scouts say that Loretta makes all the plays that are hit at him, but has problems going into the hole to rob a base hit.
  14. I'm a bit confused about why Red Sox are complaining. (other then that the Yankees got better) Sure, the Yankees got a great RF and a decent 5th starter for a bag of s***, but the Yankees had the ability to do it. They took advantedge of a club willing to discard a large contract. I see nothing wrong with that. The Red Sox have done that in the past as well. (Mike Lowell, Curt Schilling) Also, you guys are insane if you think Bobby Abreu is going to hit below the Mendoza Line for the next two months. Abreu isn't that kind of hitter. Even if he hits zero HR's the rest of the season, his OBP skills will be pretty valuable to the Yankees.
  15. Because Loretta is not a good defense 2B. He is probably average at best. Trading Lowell? Pass. Unless it lands Chris Young.
  16. Because he's a sizable upgrade over Williams/Guiel in RF. His batting average isn't really relevant. His OBP is hovering around .440. That being said, the Yankees should have added a SP. (Impact)
  17. I'm in the twilight of my career. I used to be able to understand what people said, but I can't anymore. :dunno: (The Guardians shipped off Perez, because they are 24.5 games out of 1st place, and also, because Perez was a FA. Being a low-market club, they probably couldn't afford a $3 million dollar bench player. That better be the reason. If the Guardians didn't value a guy who puts a 1.002 OPS against lefties, I guess the Mariners did.)
  18. That's fine, except for one flaw. You believed the Guardians watered down their lineup. In reality, that was the lineup they trotted out there in order to be second in baseball in runs scored. So really, you thought the Guardians lineup sucked. OK that's not fair, you probably thought there was someone else that was better then those two players. You were just too lazy to do research to verify your claim.
  19. If you can't see the value of Perez against LH pitchers. I can't help you. It's annoying that you keep saying "You keep misunderstanding my argument." I'm not, you just refuse to accept there's another side.
  20. Dead wrong. You said, "Jason Michaels batting #2, and Eduardo Perez #5, what a powerhouse lineup " I didn't misrepresent your position. You were wrong.
  21. We'd be fools to do it. Murphy can play LF, CF, or RF. That being said, if someone wants him. I'd be willing to trade him. He's a fourth outfielder. Pedroia reminds you of Gallego? Why? Because he's small? Gallego: .247/.326/.297/.623 Pedroia: .310/.398/.473/.871 He may not be Tejada, but he's certaintly not Gallego. I'd part with Delcarmen and Murphy for Smoltz. The Braves wouldn't, so it's a moot point. That's a good point, but the Red Sox would still be on the hook for $25 million dollar for two unproductive players. I don't know, maybe Martinez becomes Roger Clemens and dominates into his late 30's. History certaintly points against it, but it's possible that Pedro could do it. Do you think it's possible that Pedro is having a good year because he is pitching in an inferior league? No one expects them to do that. Expecting them to be solid arms in the bullpen is a fair expectation. Laugh all you want. It won't be close to kind of deal you envisioned.
  22. Seeing how keen you are on trading four prospects for Smoltz. I wouldn't have been shocked at all to see you advocating trading Papelbon and Hanley Ramirez for Jason Schmidt, last year. You don't know these players, somehow you think they suck. Just like your stance on the Cleveland Indian offense. These players will someday be good players. Pedoria's hit .300 at every level, Delcarmen shows signs of being a shutdown reliever. Hansen does too. Give these guys a shot, just like Papelbon and Lester got a shot. They won't disappoint you.
