  1. Rodriguez had a game tying double in the 10th inning against the Twins during the ALDS. He hit a bomb in the 4th inning of Game 4 to take the lead against the Red Sox. Besides, no one else on the Yankees hit a lick Games 4-7, why is it Rodriguez's fault? (Stats don't tell you everything, but they do tell you that Rodriguez is a superior postseason hitter then Ramirez.)
  2. When people hit rock bottom, they don't win MVP awards. (Or, are actually a tougher out in the clutch then Ortiz in '05) The bias in this thread is absolutely nausating.
  3. That's an interesting comparison. Nelson, however, had a dominant slider (probably 75 out of 80), and an mid 90's fastball. Cox, could be that good, but I don't think it's likely. (I'd say a 3.75 to 4.25 ERA guy) Jeff Nelson lite, maybe?
  4. Cox was drafted on stature only. The fact that he was the closer for Texas University convinced some people that he was worthy of a high round pick. His stuff doesn't exactly blow you away. He's about 91-92 with a good slider. He occasionally mixes in a changeup, which is used to keep batters off-balance. I think he'll be a serviceable major league pitcher, but he won't be dominant. (BTW, this game actually made me laugh. Like a cheasy predictable ending at a crappy PG movie)
  5. Because Smith is essentially another AAAA pitcher. Cox isn't going to be dominant, but he could be a middle relief type. Not now, though.
  6. Shawn Chacon?
  7. FUK ESPN I MEAN YESPN LINDA COHN IS SECRETLY THE OFFSPRING OF GAYROD N STEINBRENNER SEE TOLD U HE WAS GAY WHY IS MICHAEL GAY ON SPORTSREPORTERS? MAKES ME THINK HE'S GIVING GEORGE BODENHEIMER FAVORS!!
  8. Sorry, that fails to strike me as relevant. You said, quite graphically, that A-Rod was a poor postseason hitter. The fact that he has almost an .100 point edge on OPS over Ramirez is clearly proof that the opposite is true. Anyway, Rodriguez' hit .320 had a .457 OBP and hit 3 HR's for the Yankees. Ramirez' numbers are slightly better then Rodriguez. Rodriguez is just a scapegoat for Yankee fans to blame the fact that they haven't won a championship. It should be the pitching staff, but a person of Rodriguez's stature is an easier target.
  9. Postseason OPS: Rodriguez - .936 Ramirez - .845 (Look these things up)
  10. On May 31st - 4.31 ERA Two appearences later on June 11th - 5.63 ERA. It's safe to say that Foulke was suffering from an elbow problem which hurt his performance.
  11. His ERA was below 4.00 for a while. I think two bad outings skyrocketed his ERA. If he can get his elbow sorted out, he should be a key member of the bullpen.
  12. Towers would have pulled the trigger if the Red Sox took on Woody Williams.
  13. No. Chacon's ERA was two runs lower, and he had success for two months. Snyder, has had success in two starts, none of which are considered quality.
  14. Lugo, but Lugo is the far superior player when you compare the two.
  15. I was in favor of trading for Roberts, and signing Byrnes. That way, Andy Marte is still in AAA. Ready to be our 3B in 2008.
  16. I'm not advocating trading for Lugo. I believe we should sign him as a free agent.
  17. What are you talking about? You think Beane could have signed Giambi for cheap? Maybe 16 million is cheap to the Yankees, but that's 40% of the A's budget. Perhaps the $12 million to Hudson was "cheap." If the A's played in the AL East, they wouldn't have played the Yankees in 2001 or 2002. Maybe, it all plays out differently. Ricardo Rincon and Ray Durham were two deals made by Beane. I didn't get them over the top, but to say he "played it safe" is wrong.
  18. Bad luck? Jeter's flip, Nixon's HR, Koch's meltdown. Beane assembled some of the best rosters in the 90's, all under $40 million dollars. Remember, this is when no other low payroll team even approached .500. Just because, you think that Moneyball is "pussyball" doesn't mean you should be blind to that fact that Beane managed to vault the A's from one of the worst franchises in the mid-90's to a perrenial World Series contender. (In a year) Give Beane $100 million dollars, he'd win a World Series or two.
  19. Dustinmohr4life, makes a comment that screams faggot.
  20. When you can assemble a 100 win team for 40 million dollars, you deserve every credit in the world.
  21. but isahi bult da knick fuk u racist isahi pw3ns. marbury francis n williams
  22. That doesn't make sense.
  23. Pedoria's been there for over a year and a half, what else does he have to prove? His OPS is nearly 100 points higher then Loretta's, plus his defense is also better then Loretta's.
