That would be a court case that Boras could win. MLB could refuse it, but if an arbitrator rules against MLB, then Matsuzaka is in. I think it's impossible that Seibu allows the Apocalypse to strike Japanese baseball, by allowing such a thing to happen, but they are still odds.

I'm sure he could just leave, but Ramirez would lose over $40 million dollars, and he isn't guaranteed a job in Japan. I don't know if Japan would honor a signing such as Ramirez. Would it be worth the irrepairable damage between the two leagues? :dunno: He probably could play in China.

The only way Matsuzaka becomes a free agent, is if Boras buys Matsuzaka's free agency from Seibu. MLB would probably have to recognize that Matsuzaka is a free agent.
