Matt Morris is going to pitch in New York next year, either in Flushing Queens or the Bronx. Besides the point, he's retardedly overrated. He's given up more homeruns than he has starts this season. That's disaster in Fenway. His control has also been suspect and he's going to command top dollar. No thanks.
If the Sox want Odalis Perez, he's a lock to be in a Sox uniform next season. He loves Boston, the players and the organization. He worked with Dave Wallace in LA and he's friends with our Dominican All-Stars. That, of course, hinges on whether or not Sox brass wants him. He would be a nice lefty to break things up.
I like Matt Clement. His K rates are a good indicator of how well he'd do in Fenway. Pavano scares me a little more. His K/9 is barely over 5. For a right-hander, that's not very good.
Jaret Wright is another intriguing name, but how cheap will he be (he'd get the "wow" money) and will John Schuerholz let him go? I'm really not willing to take a chance on this guy unless we hire Leo Mazzone in some capacity.
Personally, I would re-sign Pedro and bring in Clement. We don't need the lefty that badly and they will demand similar contracts. Keeping Clement out of the Bronx is pivotal. That would give us a Pedro-Schill-Clement-Arroyo-Wake rotation next season.
Actually, upon further review, I'd more Wakefield to the bullpen and bring in Perez as well.
