Boston (4-1) at Baltimore (2-3) 1:35 pm EDT
BALTIMORE (Ticker) -- The Boston Red Sox try to complete the first of what they hope will be many sweeps this season Sunday when they wrap up a three-game set against the Baltimore Orioles.
Boston has taken the first two matchups with Baltimore in contrasting fashions - a 14-8 slugfest victory on Friday and a 2-1 duel on Saturday.
In their latest triumph, the Red Sox got a stellar effort from Curt Schilling, who allowed only one run and three hits in seven innings. Kevin Youkilis had an RBI single and Jason Varitek added a run-scoring double for Boston, which won its third straight.
The Red Sox will try to maintain their solid play of late behind Tim Wakefield (0-1, 17.18 ERA), who hopes to rebound from a horrendous season debut. The veteran knuckleballer was torched for seven runs in 3 2/3 innings of Tuesday's 10-4 setback vs. Texas.
Baltimore will counter with Rodrigo Lopez (1-0, 6.43), who is 10-5 with a 3.78 ERA against the Red Sox. He faced them five times last season, going 2-2 with a 3.90 ERA.
The Mexican righthander yielded six runs in seven innings in his season debut but still got the victory in Monday's 9-6 triumph against Tampa Bay.
