  1. Reports are that there is also an option for a 4th year. I don't think the Sox should budge and see if Pedro walks. He's not worth this kind of money anymore. Personally, I think this would be good for Pedro (as if anyone cares about that). Going to the NL should help him remain competative for a while longer. If he were smart though, he'd play this into a bidding war with St. Louis then go there. He'd be in a warmer climate than NY, and he'd have a killer lineup behind him. Anyway, if you stick a gun to my head, MAYBE I'd consider offering Pedro a 3rd year..... but now that I think about it. Nah. Let him go.
  2. I want my Belli back, Belli back, Belli back... I want my Belli back, Belli back, Belli back... Red Sox... back-up cat..cher.....
  3. What a time to be a New Englander.... and who thought I'd ever say that? I watched the show and I'll admit, I cried like a 2 year-old because I was so happy (4 days of drinking didn't hurt either!).
  4. Very cool. The NESN one (I've read) starts off at the end of 2003.
  5. Good Gammo report. Pretty good video segment on Pedroia here (link on the right) from the Arizona Fall League. I didn't realise he's the same size as Pedro.. http://mlb.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/mlb/video/daily.jsp
  6. This is the one I want to see - unless it's the one with Dennis Leary narrating it. Just in time for Christmas too!
  7. Wow Yeszir.. those are some well manicured fingernails.
  8. I've thought about that, but I'm sure it would never happen... That's the one thing about this year that is kind of a bummer. I wish we could have won the WS with Nomar.
  9. This is cool too. And it prints pretty well. http://www.projo.com/redsox/2004postseason...4redsoxteam.pdf
  10. Kapler's one of those guys in a tough position. He'll always be seen as a utility guy who never lived up to the hype, unless he gets to prove teams otherwise. The only way he can show off whatever tallent he may have is to play everyday, and no team in the Majors would let him do that. I'm sure the Sox tried to keep him - but as a backup, and certainly not for 2 Million/year. Wasn't it Cecil Fielder (I think) who was considered junk, then went to Japan and hit like 50 hrs? Then he came back to the states and hit the tar out of the ball for about 5 years. Good luck to him.
  11. So the 9 spots are: 1 SP 2 SP 3 SS 4 C 5 BACKUP C 6 BACKUP Utility OF 7 LH Reliever 8 RH Reliever 9 BACKUP Utility IF ???
  12. Man... I'm all confused... So they have 31 of 40 spots filled on the 40 man roster. So 9 spots remain. Why not fill the last 9 with players you want to keep? Or does it have something to do with FAs and holding them an open spot?
  13. It's just to protect them from the Rule 5 I think.
  14. I was drunk and tried going to talksex.com, but made a typo.
  15. I CAN WATCH THAT FOR HOURS.
  16. The picture sort of reminds me of Wilson from Castaway
  17. Yankee fans Cursing at Damon pic http://www.nydailynews.com/ips_rich_content/210-damon_art.JPG http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/baseball...7p-217098c.html BY MELISSA GRACE DAILY NEWS STAFF WRITER This image of Johnny Damon is ticking off Yankee fans. Still disturbed by the Boston Red Sox's Curse-ending success, Yankee fans now have to put up with seeing a likeness of Beantown sparkplug Johnny Damon on lampposts in Brooklyn. A stenciled image of the long-haired outfielder with a red B on his cap has been popping up across Carroll Gardens, driving Bomber fans bananas. "Breaking the Curse is still no excuse for defacing public property," fumed Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz. The 10-inch-high, spray-painted stencils of the slugger known as "Caveman" have been spotted on at least eight lampposts along Court and Clinton Sts. The shenanigans have led to a lot of finger-pointing in a neighborhood full of Yankee fans still reeling from the Bombers' defeat by the Sox in the American League Championship Series. "One guy in there is a Red Sox fanatic," said Court St. pizzeria owner Ralph Buoncore, pointing to a deli across the street. But Wilson Gil, 26, wasn't copping to the graffiti from behind the deli's counter. "I would like to know!" he said, proclaiming his innocence. "It's cool," added the sandwich maker, a fan of the Mets and Bosox slugger Manny Ramirez. Regina McFadden, director of the Gowanus Artist Open Studio Tour, offered a critique of the mystery stenciler's handiwork. "I think it's some very creative teenagers," said McFadden. "It's definitely not anyone from Gowanus Artists!" City Department of Transportation spokesman Tom Cocola vowed that Damon's image would be scrubbed away in coming days. "Hopefully, in the next day or two, there will be no Johnny Damon in Brooklyn," Cocola said. Someone in NY is my new hero!
  18. I guess then Manny and Ortiz had the most help then because juicebox Sheffield came in second . :wtf:
  19. I agree. And he almost got Ortiz injured...
  20. Try this one. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?p...50mlbfreeagents I'd still ban him though.
  21. Link's dead. :banned:
  22. I think we have an option on Bellhorn for '05. *think* I've also read in Chicago papers that the Cubs "need a guy like Millar" in the clubhouse much like the Sox did to break their curse.... At least that's what the writers are saying - not sure about the club.
  23. If we lose Tek, then it's Millar all the way for me. BTW: Rumor from the Boston Herald is to look out for the possibility of Troy Glaus entering the picture. If the Sox pick him up, the article says they could move Mueller to 2b or shift Gloss to 1b and try and move Millar and Mientkiewicz. "With Bill Mueller [stats, news] signed for an affordable $2.5 million this season, the Red Sox would have to either move Mueller from the hot corner to second base or else deal him. Either one would be an acceptable alternative in order to have Glaus, a good third baseman on the field and, especially, in the lineup. He would slip quite nicely in the No. 5 spot of the batting order, after right-handed No. 3 man Manny Ramirez [stats, news] and lefty cleanup hitter David Ortiz [stats, news]. Glaus has excellent pull power with a golf-shot type swing that generates plenty of fly balls that clear the left field wall without much problem. In 41 at-bats at Fenway Park over the last three years, Glaus has hit .366 with a pair of home runs. His agent, Mike Nicotera, refused to say whether or not he has talked with the Red Sox, but he made it clear that Glaus is open to becoming a Red Sox. ``Certainly I would say with regards to the criteria that are important to him, Boston fulfills those criteria,'' Nicotera said. Glaus would also be willing to play first base if the situation were right, if the Red Sox found a way to move both Kevin Millar [stats, news] and Doug Mientkiewicz [stats, news]. ``He would prefer third base, but if a situation comes up where all other things considered he is content and they wanted him to play first base, he is not going to shut the door,'' Nicotera said. "
  24. Yes, but can't you argue it the other way too? What if there's a bad call that starts or extends a rally? Instant replay may in this situation actually shorten the time of the game. Maybe there wouldn't be a pitching change and commercial break and warm up pitches. If it's a really controversial call, how much time would it add compared to a player or manager coming out and arguing for 5 minutes then getting tossed? Just something to think about.
