The reason for that would be nothing other than Sabathia may be set on pitching in the NL West. He'll be a HOFer if he pitches there the rest of his career. If we don't get Sabathia (and Teixiera for that matter), it won't be for lack of effort by Cashman. Some people just don't want to play in New York. I guarantee you we'll give them the biggest offers though. Also, Derek Lowe sucks. I don't want Derek Lowe.

Then don't buy season tickets in Toronto. The Yankees will be better next season, relax. They weren't even that bad this season. They won 89 games with a ton of injuries in a ridiculously competitive division.

He has the potential to be Josh Beckett, also. Halladay is the best pitcher in the east.

Word. Sheets scares the hell out of me. Overall I can't argue with most of that. I like Marte a lot more than Fuentes. Since he's adjusted, he's been very good with 2 runs his last 15 appearances. I hope CC's arm doesn't fall off by having Milwaukee pitch him every day.

And if the Yankees were in the National League, they'd be in the playoff hunt. In fact, if they had 20 games against the Braves, Marlins and Nationals, they'd be leading the NL East. Even ignoring the competition, they'd be leading the NL West, and a game back in the AL Central. You realize that 4 of the 5 teams clinched finishing over .500 in the AL East? We're in a tough division, had a lot of injuries, and had some unlucky bounces. The overreaction to missing the playoffs for one season in embarrassing. Stop looking for a scapegoat. -
This is how business works. If JP Morgan Chase said give us a tax break or we're taking all our offices to Jersey City, JP Morgan Chase would get a tax break. It happens every day, especially in New York. What was the last Stadium that didn't use public money?

They're going to take down the Stadium piece by piece. By spring 2010, they're going to have a ballfield with the exact dimensions in the exact spot the field is now. Pretty cool that kids will be able to play there. Yankees are doing this day up right. Letting the fans on the field before the game was a nice touch.

Would you have considered Bedard a sure thing? Because the Mariners GM traded everything he had to get him, and now he's got a new job parking cars. You can't just go and trade your whole farm system. Yeah the Mets got Santana, good for them. They weren't able to get an arm for the bullpen at the deadline because they had no farm system, and now they're boned.

The Jets will improve while Favre gets more familiar with the offense and the offensive and defensive lines build chemistry. Look for them to be much better after the Bye week.

My point was that you guys are giving Schilling a virtual handjob for bashing the Yankees, while he just stole $8 million from your franchise. I'd be pissed off at him, not getting on my knees under his desktop while he's playing WoW because he took a swing at New York. And no, his opinion is not "a hell of a lot more relevant" than mine. He's a spectator, just like I am. What he says means nothing, and I don't know why anyone gives a s*** about what he says. Just because he talks a lot doesn't make his opinion important.

Marte is not Gagne in that he'll be with us next year. He struggled at the beginning, but has improved since. He'll be a big piece to the bullpen in '09
