  1. The Jets don't know how to be the favorite. They played as if they had nothing to lose early on, then played cautious. When they got their backs against the wall, they turned it on again. Good to see resiliency, scary to know they won't put good teams away. First place with essentially a 2 game lead on New England. I would probably kill to get a first round bye week.
  2. That shouldn't have been intentional grounding. I've seen passes thrown further from receivers not get whistled. The fact that he got it that close is impressive.
  3. Jets signed Ty Law, he's playing Thursday night. I like the move. Adds depth to the secondary, which was the weakest part of the defense. http://blogs.nfl.com/2008/11/10/jets-sign-cb-law/
  4. Thursday should be fun. It'll be interesting to see how the Patriots handle losing Thomas. Their schedule is a cupcake down the stretch, we'll see if they blow any games they should win. A Jet win Thursday would be a big step for them, but it'll take more than that for the Jets to win the East.
  5. If he gets more than 1 year, $5 million, I'd be surprised.
  6. We did it with Sheffield a few years ago.
  7. Yes, the rate of one third place finish every 16 years.
  8. I'd want to keep him. He'll be useful as a setup option. Bullpen arms are so volatile, I'd be wary to bank on these guys performing the way they did this season.
  9. We already have Melky Cabrera. We don't need another Melky Cabrera. That would be two too many.
  10. Good. I don't want him. He sucks.
  11. I'm sure Joba's driving after drinking had nothing to do with a moron talking s*** in Nebraska about the Red Sox. He drove drunk because drunk people make bad decisions.
  12. My friend bought a breathalyzer online. Not a smart combo for college kids drinking. Fun though.
  13. If I'm the Mets I'd take Varitek. They desperately need a leader in the clubhouse, and Varitek fits that. Schneider could be moved, he's in the last year of his deal. His offense is something Varitek could do in the National League.
  14. I hate the Red Sox as much as anybody, but you have to be an idiot to not be impressed by the way they play with their backs against the wall. As soon as the crowd got into that game, I knew Tampa had no shot. I even called Drew's homer the pitch before it happened. The only issue in this series is now which Beckett will show up. If it's vintage postseason Beckett, you can write your ticket to Philly. I really don't see how Tampa recovers from this loss.
  15. This. Also, you can't bring back Willie or Bowa. Puts unnecessary pressure on Girardi. First losing streak and the media will be pushing for one of those guys to take over. I like Sojo on the staff, so move Pena to 3rd base and put Luis at first. According to Feinsand he's worked well with Rodriguez, and should get through to Cano.
  16. I want Tex. Switch hitting, gold glove first baseman, who can work the count and drive the ball, in his prime. If the Yankees pass on him it'll be a huge mistake. He'll end up somewhere in the American League, hurting the Yanks.
  17. I like the dueling English language, Manny debate going on here. Pretty funny. Manny is an elite talent, who is immune to pressure. That is the type of person I want in the lineup. If he hits, it'll take some weight off A-Rod's shoulders. I am all for it. And I think he's a douchebag, for the record.
  18. I think we may have a Manny-Damon-Nady outfield next year. Also known as the worst defensive outfield, ever.
  19. I get that. I just don't like the risk/reward, especially at centerfield.
  20. What the f*** was he thinking? So many things can go wrong with a squeeze. Bad, bad play call.
  21. I'd rather have Pettitte than Lowe. Pettitte had a crazy down year, but has a lot more going for him than Lowe for the Yankees. And I'm not 100% on bringing Pettitte back. Stay away from Lowe. At this point I'm most interested in Burnett. CC's poor playoff performance (again) scared me off. I'd be happy with Burnett, Wang, Mussina, Joba, Pettitte/Hughes.
  22. I'd prefer to let him walk and bring in Manny.
