The only guy I've seen who looks comparable to Bush in the league right now is Tomlinson, and anybody that good is the best place to build your franchise around. If the Jets can make a move to get that pick, I would be eternally grateful.
Patriots have a terrible pass defense, if I'm correct? I thought I heard that on ESPN. If Bollinger gets some time he can make some good passes. Honestly, this is one of two games I'm dying for the Jets to win this year (the other being MNF against New England). I realize that it'll basically end our chances to draft Reggie Bush without a trade, but damnit I'd be happy.
If he's so cocksure that Beckett will be healthy, then there's no need to keep arguing with us on that point.
I think it should be a concern, and he's blowing it off he doesn't want to think there is the remote possiblity the trade could turn out bad. Ignoring the potential negatives of the trade is just stupid.
Beckett isn't garbage, he's a very good pitcher. I still have Javier Vazquez in my mind when I think of Beckett, however.
As for the Yankees, we don't need to make a huge response. Johnson, Mussina, Chacon, Pavano and Wang is cool by me as a rotation. Sign Brian Giles, try out guys like Colter Bean for the bullpen, and maybe bring in Ryan.
If you guys end up trading Manny, this trade loses a lot of his impact, but as it stands right now, Boston's team slightly edges the Yankees.
Vazquez (2003)- 34 starts, 231.2 IP, 4 CG, 3.24 ERA, 241 K
Vazquez (2004)- 32 starts, 198 IP, 0 CG, 4.91 ERA, 150 K
Beckett (2005)- 29 starts, 178.2 IP, 2 CG, 3.38 ERA, 166 K
Javier Vazquez was a better pitcher coming to the American League.
Last 'young' pitcher.
I like Chacon, but the jury is still out on him. I'm just saying, I'm not sold on Beckett because of all these young pitcher who come to the AL and don't do well.
The best player is the most valuable, and it's stupid to argue otherwise. A guy posts a .370, 58 HR, 150 RBI season, with gold glove defense, but his team sucks around him then he shouldn't win? Whoever contributes the most to a team is the most valuable.
