  1. Hehe, all I can picture now is that messed up ESPN commercial from a few years back, where some weird-ass alien looking thing just whispers "Hideeeeeoo Nooooomoooo", and then the ESPN logo flashes on the screen. In any case, it should be an interesting game. I'm surprised that Nomo hasnt been doing well, considering how effective he has been in the past few seasons.
  2. It's a shame that two people can't play 3rd base at the same time, isnt it? But I do see your point, and, however reluctantly, I agree with you. As much as I like seeing Euclis out there, Mueller has been the 3rd baseman for longer, and he did win the AL batting title last year, and he is supposedly a defensive stud, and he has earned out respect. This is the frustrating part, having to decide between two players who both have their pros, and whom you both like.
  3. I still don't want to see him pitch that frequently. I like when he pitched today, when the sox are getting killed and Tito doesnt want to put any unneeded strain on the bullpen. This also works for when we're killing the other team.
  4. I've never really been a fan of the whole "quality start" thing. I like judging pitchers on how I see them pitch. Lowe looked good in his past two starts, even if his June 6th outing wasnt a quality start. Sure, there was the potential to get smashed there, but he didnt get smashed. This is a key characteristic of any great pitcher, the ability to get out of jams. Using your example, if Pedro didnt sometimes get batters to swing at ball 4, then he wouldn't be as dominant as he can be, and we would be criticizing him. So, I think that he didnt just get lucky. He's probably snapped out of whatever bothered him (although with Lowe, you never know). Hopefully we'll see his better half now. We need that, with Schilling injury rumors abounding.
  5. When is Mueller coming back by the way? I havent heard anything about him at all. I want to see Youki in there for longer, he's so good! Much better than anyone expected at such an early stage.
  6. This is how I see it now. You get one of two extremes when Lowe is pitching. You either get the baby-man, break down mentally, crappy ass pitcher that we saw earlier on in the year, or you get the dominant, focused cy-young candidate that we saw yesterday. Hopefully he'll be able to avoid a 50-50 split in his personality, because I much prefer watching the cy young candidate pitch.
  7. I think that it was simply a nice gesture to draft Nick Francona. He's going to Penn anyway, so its not like he got shafted by being taken in the 40th round. How would you like it to sit through 40 rounds of baseball boringness and not get picked?
  8. He's on the trading block officially now: http://www.sportsline.com/mlb/story/7413011 If he goes to the yankees...... ugh.
  9. Wow. I want him to pitch in Boston after last night's game. He was spot on. Very impressive I must say.
  10. Not being a huge hockey fan, I dont really know the state of the game that well. I just know that its pretty bad. Will there be a lockout that will last for a long time now that the season is over? Will this cripple the NHL? Resident hockey fans.... discuss.
  11. this is what Boras looks like by the way, not many people know: http://img.slate.msn.com/media/105000/105827/010509_ScottBoras.jpg Is he sexy or what?
  12. Ok, so after two good starts (one great) in a row, is D-Lowe back? He was lights out yesterday. Its a shame that Manny Ramirez sucks and had to blow the win for him, but he pitched the best he's pitched in years. I think I need to see one more quality start from him to become a believer again. Phew, I was getting worried.
  13. Ahahaha, so true. They know next to nothing about baseball except that "De yankeez rule and noyne teyne eight teyne."
  14. Hahaha, I'd never realized that before. Thats a good name.
  15. Any relation to our Bill Buckner?

Yagmaster, he's talking about the strike looming on the horizon. They're gonna have a work stoppage, and its gonna be a bad one. But it doesn't bother me too much, I'm not a hockey fan.
  17. Definitely. If he keeps any sign of decency up, the sox will do well. I hate to say it, but our season is essentially dependent on Lowe's ability to get us wins.
  18. The schedule says at colorado. And I, too, look forward to interleague action.
  19. He's not coming back today, he's down in AAA still. But we can still hoepfully beat up on Wells.
  20. I'm in on this. I hope I win.... I want a new hat!
  21. Hasn't he been the real deal for two years now? Before his injury we knew to expect great things.
  22. And a big welcome to you! Edit: Lowe didn't pitch poorly though. He didnt pitch great either, but its certainly an improvement on what he's done before.
  23. I've never really been a huge fan of the all-star voting. Sox and yankee fans dominate, choosing their players, and then Torre picks the entire Yankee roster to fill up the team. It would be better if some supreme, objective council chose the players based on performance. That way Nomar (even though we love him) would not be leading.
