  1. There are some background tasks consuming resources and until that completes later this morning, posts and forum will not appear. All of this should be sorted out by mid-day or so, I hope.
  2. Before we discuss the articles, you will notice that the forums are still complete and in mostly the same spot as before. It’s all still there. The only addition you may notice is that there is a new forum for commenting on the front-page articles. So, what can you look for and expect from the front-page articles of Talk Sox? To answer that, I’d like to encourage you to click on our sister site, Twins Daily, for what you might see over time from some of your favorite Red Sox writers. Here is what you may find over time: Deep statistical analysis on a player or topic. For those who enjoy looking into baseball's many advanced statistics, some articles may help provide reasons for team or managerial decisions, situational analysis, and more. Minor league articles. The plan is to have daily minor league reports on the Red Sox affiliates throughout the minor league season. You will see how the teams did, how the players performed, some highlights, and more. In addition, we will provide prospect rankings and more. Player profiles on major-league players or minor league players. As relationships are developed, we hope to do some player interviews and stories. Maybe there will be stories on current minor leaguers, big leaguers, or even former big leaguers who call New England home. News articles from the day. If a player gets hurt, we will try to analyze how the front office will adjust the roster and maybe how the manager will alter lineups, rotations, roles, etc. Trade or free agent analysis. Draft coverage before, during, and following the MLB Draft. Historical articles digging into some of the great (or not-so-great) Red Sox teams since the formation of the team in 1901. But the history of baseball in Boston is long and filled with interesting topics and stories of the Red Sox, Braves, and more. Video! In the coming days, we’ll roll out our video section, which will feature short videos about Red Sox major and minor league players. We are not looking to duplicate Twins Daily. This community is already so very strong, so passionate. We want to add to that community and provide more options for Red Sox fans to connect to their favorite team. The articles, much like the writers, will likely evolve, and that’s a good thing. What if I want to write for Talk Sox? That’s a great question. I’m glad you asked. First, feel free to reach out to email at brock.beauchamp@talksox.com or contact any of the other writers and express interest. But, you will also note that the user blogs page is still there. If you’ve ever wanted an audience for your Red Sox takes, this is the perfect place. We will frequently be monitoring the blogs, and if we see quality writing and interesting topics, we may reach out to you about writing on the front page. It is also noteworthy that we will be paying our front-page article writers. It’s certainly not enough to quit your day job. So don’t do that. However, it might be enough to show that we value your time, talent, and effort. We ask that you support our writers by clicking on their articles, reading them, and leaving comments, questions, and feedback on the topics. This is just an extension of the forums and another means of enjoying following the Red Sox. I am seriously looking forward to knowing much more about the Red Sox, their farm system, and more. You can also follow Talk Sox on X and Facebook.
  3. Welcome to an all-new front page here at Talk Sox! Along with being a long-running forum for fans of the Boston Red Sox, we will now provide fans with thoughtful articles from fellow Sox fans and writers. It is all part of an ongoing effort to create a one-stop-shop, a community for passionate Red Sox fans. 4. Unfortunately, hard to see them coming back from this Diamondbacks series.
  5. He's referencing that I'm shutting down the board in a few minutes. It will be down for a few hours and come back looking very different.
  6. I agree, the Sox booth is not bad. Don't think it's great, either, but it's not bad.
  7. I haven't been able to watch this game and glad I didn't after seeing it 4-0 early.
  8. Moonslav jumping out with the game thread! ONE STATEMENT: THE FORUM WILL SHUT DOWN THIS EVENING AND COME BACK LATER IN THE NIGHT. That’s it.
  9. Tough series, the Diamondbacks have turned it on again and look like they're going to make the postseason. MLB Gameday: D-backs 12, Red Sox 2 Final Score (08/23/2024) | MLB.com WWW.MLB.COM Follow MLB results with FREE box scores, pitch-by-pitch strikezone info, and Statcast data for D-backs vs. Red Sox at Fenway Park
  10. I have nothing against Verlander, I just don't like the Astros.
  11. Verlander is back and the Astros are good again. I can't say I'm a big fan of these things happening. MLB Gameday: Red Sox 4, Astros 1 Final Score (08/21/2024) | MLB.com WWW.MLB.COM Follow MLB results with FREE box scores, pitch-by-pitch strikezone info, and Statcast data for Red Sox vs. Astros at Minute Maid Park
  12. I'm pretty comfortable with how you all are doing things, I mostly raise these questions to get a feel for why the community does these things. My goal is to get a read on this community's vibe and then work with it. So I'm going to ask a lot of stupid questions trying to get that vibe.
  13. And that's why career numbers and epic moments aren't the same thing. Reggie had epic moments, so did Papi, do did Kirby. That doesn't mean any of them were clutch hitters. They just hit that one time in the clutch. Or maybe a few times in the clutch when we were all watching.
  14. Hey, back off. You say it's great, I say it's good. Let's not create a fight over this. But yeah, it appears I have a little MOJO going. I'm happy to keep that rolling.
  15. To be fair, "clutch" is a VERY rare thing. We have literally 100 years of data to show that only a few select players even have a hint of it over an entire career.
  16. I run several baseball sites, it's just another Tuesday for me. But I'm interested to see how you New Englanders flare up about baseball, y'all have a passion for baseball unknown to most of the country. I will enjoy it, that much I guarantee.
  17. I see there aren't word censor filters for swear words. On all our other sites, we have word censors in place. BUT... as I've said we take a bottom-up model. How do we feel about swear words? What about awful nicknames? Frankly, I care far less about cuss words than I do nicknames for players and personnel. Or even other teams. What are your thoughts on these things? While I'm okay with "f***", for some reason I'm less okay with "Spankees" or whatever. And IMO, bad nicknames for players are really off-limits. I think we're all better if we don't make personal attacks on people. But hey, it's your forum. If you have opinions, please share them.
  18. I own the site now. Seriously, though, I own the site.
  19. Ah, it's all good. Part of buying into a community is buying into the community. The personalities are what make it what it is. And there are outlandish characters in every community, it's part of what makes them fun. I did quite a bit of research into this community before buying it. There are lots of others I could have purchased but did not, I like you silly folks.
  20. Oh sorry, mixed up your profile with someone else.
  21. I just posted some stats to outline Devers' recent performances. I didn't editorialize in the slightest bit. But also, you living in Temecula? I graduated from Escondido High School.
