  1. What are the names of your two accounts? And which one would you like to keep?
  2. Yeah, it hasn’t been a great 4-5 days for the Sox.
  3. Do you have an old account you’d like me to retrieve for you?
  4. Thanks for helping us get through this transition, now let's dig into some of the new stuff that's available. Hi, welcome to the all-new Talk Sox website! I know the new software is a bit of a shock to the system after using the old forum software for so long but I promise you that there is a lot to like about this software once you acclimate yourself to it. On top of a much more modern interface, we'll be rolling out new features on the regular over the next month. For starters, I'm thrilled to take the next step with all of you, many of whom have been using this site for literal decades. I hope to grow together and your input is key for making this happen. So if you're a veteran user here every day or someone who drifted off years ago, please pop into the forums and give us your feedback. First, the forums still exist and you'll find them in the menu at the top of every page. But there are several differences now, including: Dark mode: at the top right of every page, you'll see a half-filled circle. That toggles dark mode on and off. Tweets: you can now paste the URL for any single tweet into a comment and the system will render the tweet on-screen. Pasting images: you can now paste any image into a comment and it uploads the image to TalkSox.com. GIFs: At the top of a comment toolbar, there is a searchable GIF library to insert into any post. We have a suite of tutorials available here as well. You'll have to forgive all the "Twins Daily" copy, I haven't had time to update the copy for Talk Sox yet but all of the content is accurate. Every registered Talk Sox user now has access to their own user blog. If you have an interest in trying your hand at writing, this is a great place to flex those muscles and learn the craft. As an introduction, I've written up a couple of blogs to help users use parts of the new system. Coming soon will be the new Talk Sox top prospects list. The wrinkle with our format here is that our users get to vote on the rankings! Voting is currently open now; it only takes a few minutes of your time and you get to influence our Red Sox prospects rankings. To vote, just click here for a brief rundown how the system works. New to the site, we also offer up-to-date active rosters and 40-man rosters. In the coming days and weeks, we'll roll out many new features such as video, handy guides to various aspects of Red Sox fandom such as minor league affiliates, Fenway Park, and much more. Over the winter, I hope to launch the Red Sox Players Project, which will be a wiki-style repository of all Red Sox players, past and present. Our ambitions for the site are grand: simply put, we want to be the premier Red Sox super-site on the internet. But that takes time and we're in this for the long run. And we can get there a lot more quickly with your feedback so please let us know if you see something you feel can be improved! One small thing that helps us a great deal is sharing our work on social media. If you're on social, please give one of our channels a follow. Thank you! 6. I figured it out, no serious issue, I just need to wait for the system to finish processing some stuff. Everything should be back up tomorrow morning.
  7. Alright, so I suspect you're a troll but I'll approve this one post and see where it goes.
  8. What was your username before? In past migrations, we've discovered some software stores old usernames and they can pop up during the transition. I'm happy to change your username to whatever you like.
  9. I noticed he was in the booth the other day and I meant to bring it up here. Has the Rocket been rehabbing his image in Boston lately? I know the end of his tenure here was quite toxic and it seemed there was plenty of animosity to go around from all parties. Putting aside PEDs and all of that, how do Boston fans feel about him nowadays? And has that changed in the past decade since he retired?
  10. It goes like this: 1. Provisional Member - this is the spam prevention category. A user has to have two posts approved by a moderator and then they move to 2. Verified Member - this is the basic member with all standard permissions but after something like 10,000 posts, you move to 3. Old-Timey Member - this has a few additional permissions that I'll customize as we go along and I get feedback from all of you. Basically, more freedom is allowed here because if you've been around long enough to post thousands of times, you're not going to cause too much trouble.
  11. Oh lord no, we have a Twitter account for the site but that's about it...
  12. It helps us grow our reach enormously so if you use social media, consider giving us a follow/like. 13. All I ask for is a little patience. I know the system is new and different but it's a lot easier to use than that ancient vBulletin instance if you give it a shot. You can copy and paste all sorts of things into the editor and it "just works". And you get user tagging, reactions, and a ton of other stuff. I already opened prospect voting here and that's just the tip of the iceberg of what's coming.
  14. Added Valera. Thanks for noticing that copy error, this instance of our software was pulled from the Marlins site, which votes for 30 (they're the only ones who do this).
  15. There was a merging glitch while trying to move that one forum. It still exists, it's just hanging in limbo until I can figure out what happened. Not sure when it will appear but I don't think it's a long-term issue.
  16. Time to open our first round of Red Sox prospect voting! 1. You must have an account and be logged in to vote. If you don't have an account, click here. It literally requires 60 seconds to create an account. 2. Review our current top 20 prospect list, catch up on stats, rankings, etc. (you can do so from the voting page link below) 3. Have your prospect list in your dirty little paws? Then flip on over to the new prospect voting page (after reading the rest of this, please). https://talksox.com/prospect-voting 4. Voting is super simple, you drag and drop players in the order you wish them to be. After you move a prospect, the list automatically renumbers so you don't lose track of the order. This works on mobile devices but it's a *vastly* better experience on desktop. Sorry, that's just how this kind of thing works. There's no great way to make something like this be as awesome on a phone screen. 5. Each prospect has a comment section where you can add any commentary you have on that player. At the bottom of the list, there is a general comment section to explain over-arching things you wish to mention. 6. Don't see a prospect you want to put on the list? Just pop back here and give me a mention (in a comment, start typing @Brock Beauchamp or @Seth Stohs as they appear). Mention the prospect you want added and I will do that asap. 7. Once you're done with all of it, click Save. You've now voted! 8. When the voting closes, a new thread will automatically generate in this forum with all of your rankings and comments for everyone to read and talk about. 9. You can only vote once. If you have voted in error, pop back here and tag Brock, asking to have your vote deleted. It will be removed and you can vote again. Voting will close at end of day Wednesday, September 4th!
  17. Everything will be chaotic today, stuff will be moving around a lot as I get all the content sorted.
  18. If this is the case, just post here. It means during conversion, the system found two of your account. I will merge the accounts into one.
  19. Yeah, for sure. What happened is that the conversion ended late last night and then the system starts processing all the old posts in the new system. Because it was so late, I missed this HUGE batch process and all the forum changes slid in behind it. So basically, I'm just waiting for the system to finish processing like 1.8m posts - which takes like 15 hours - after which all the forum changes I made late last night will appear within a few minutes.
  20. And you get modern features like this! Just paste a Twitter URL into the post field and it renders a card.
