De Paula is Rule 5 eligible this offseason. The MLBPA is making waves about having a draft during a lockout even though there hasn't been one in the past. With Ohtani and Pages out, it's a good time to bring De Paula up and see what he has, especially with a huge lead in the West. Dodgers are more likely to deal him away, but you never know. 

Don't really see the same comparison to Arias. Sox can take their time and add him next season.
