It's out of style. No more "wasted ABs," just let everyone swing away and away and away.

I am not a fan of the sacrifice bunt, except under very rare specific circumstances.  However, bunting for a base hit is another story.  David Hamilton would be a perfect candidate to drop down a bunt for a base hit.  With his speed and base-stealing threat, a bunt single would be as good as a double.  There are a few others on the team who should also try it once in a while.

I do think teams need to "keep defenses honest." By drawing in the infield to protect against a bunt, you increase the odds of a base bit. Never bunting would help opposing teams play back in bunting situations.

Exactly.  The sac bunt isn't nearly as important as managers once thought it was, but the ability to lay down a good bunt still has its place in baseball.

His post was fine up to the wanting David Hamilton on the team. They are not toast but last night was extremely frustrating for all Sox fans. I also think the third base coach made a huge mistake by not trying to score. If the guy with a poor arm throws a strike then so be it. Also, Cora should have called for a saftey squeeze with Toro. I was in St. Louis last month and the Padres successfully excuted two safety squeeze plays in a row. Just bunt the ball toward first or second. Not rocket science.

Hamilton's back and the Sox are playing great ball.  I think the screwup on the fly to center was that Eaton sprinted for home when the ball was hit and then had to go back to 3b.  Apparently he thought there were 2 outs.   Either way, it was a screw-up.  Sox have proven time and time again they are crappy bunters.

DHam gave us a decent half season in 2024 (.740 OPS w 29 SBs in a 79 game stretch.)

We just need a few good weeks from him, this year.
