It's time to start thinking about the actual season, which is exciting.

I wanted to get opinions on game threads. How they're managed is up to the community, we do it all sorts of different ways on different sites. I have a few requirements but they're not really all that important from the end user side of things:

1. Game threads will go in the Red Sox forum. The following morning, I will move yesterday's game thread to the archive forum (where it can still be viewed and posted in) to avoid cluttering the Sox forum with a dozen game threads no longer relevant.

2. We need them posted in the morning so I can do some prep work around promoting them during game time. Nothing too insane, just up by 11am eastern or so.

With that said, do you all want me to just create the thread every morning? Or do you all prefer to have a rotating cast of people who create the thread and add their own flavor to that day's thread? I know in the past you had people start threads themselves to give a bit of flavor to each day's thread, if you all want to keep that going, say so here.

We used to have a system where the poster of the previous night's game thread would make the next game thread IF the Sox won (mojo). HOWEVER, there were many times that this caused issues with late posts and people wondering if someone was going to get a post up in time. If the goal is to get posts up early enough so that they can be promoted throughout the day, we'd either have to have a time limit for this system OR just move on from it altogether.

I'm all for whatever everyone else wants to do. If the goal is to increase participation, maybe it's best to have one person just get the threads up? Should we run a poll in the main forum closer to the start of the season?

A problem w/ sports boards is they eventually become 'same old same old'.  We all pretty much know what every other poster will say. Standardizing game threads only contributes to that.   Let a little amusing disorder reign:  the world isn't going to end because there occasionally are two game threads or the wrong person starts one or because someone got excited and pipped another poster to the post.

Oh, I'm 100% okay with others starting game threads, I truly do not need to do it.

My only real concern is the following:

1. They be started in the Red Sox forum

2. They be started as early in the day as possible

As for the rest of it, I'm open to whatever people like/want.
