Just checked Fox pregame. Remember, in Fox World, the Sox-Yanks rivalry ONLY extends from Ruth to Dent to Boone, and ends with Roberts' stolen base.

Eovaldi doesn't exist, and never beat New York at the Stadium, 16-1, in '18, or in the wild card game in '21. Brock Holt never hit for the cycle, Nunez to Pearce is a nothing burger, and Bogaerts and Schwarber didn't croak the great Cole.

Beaucoup lefty bats, everyone but Rafaela.

If the Yankees had won last night, it would not have been because they did anything right, but because Valdez screwed up the throw to 2b on a tailor-made GIDP. Because double plays are never assumed, the 3d Yankee run in the little faux-rally counts as earned. But all 3 runs were really unearned.

Cole hasn’t gone more than 5 IP nor put together any good starts since returning from the IL. However, that can and will change very suddenly…

I always keep the sound off, so am fine with whatever Fox wants to sell, including non-baseball stuff.

Also, I don't mind a little building-up of our arch-rival for, what, over 100 years? They do have 27 WS titles, but they also have fallen on hard times, which basically began right after JH became the Sox owner.

Cole needed 19 pitches, but did get 3 straight outs.

Sox tend not to be good at scoring runs in the first inning. Maybe that's true of most MLB teams.

Gonna have to find a way and hit this guy. Any idea on cole’s velocity early?

His fast ball started at 94 mph, but then got up to 97 mph. I think he focused on control in the first inning.

Looks like the Yankees are able to score in the 1st inning. Winck threw that 91 mph cutter right down the middle. But then he got the popup from Soto with basically the same pitch.

I think Winck was lucky in the first inning. Yes, the dinger, but he throw a lot of pitches in the middle of the zone. Also, he threw nothing with a real break in it--no changeup, no slider, no curve. Just cutters, sinkers, and straight fast balls.

Second straight game in which the ump is giving the close ones to the Yankees pitcher. But, to Cole's great credit, all 3 strikes to Devers were right on the edges.

That knuckle curve was definitely low, but called a strike. But the great one, Juan Valdez, gets the Sox first hit. Another curve, same place, to Yoshida, but called a ball.

What did moonslav say last night? All 5 rbi's came from the bottom 4 of the Sox order. Now Rafaela comes up with 2 outs and the freaking bases loaded.

Bad call on McGuire's swing. Thank goodness.

Rafaela completely overmatched by Cole's heater. That last one was right down the pike for a big swing and miss.

Cole looks pretty decent today except for the pitch count--42 in 2 innings.

Can’t squander opportunities.

Not sure I buy "squander." Rafaela was clearly overmatched. Cole threw nothing but heat and the K pitch was right down the middle.

SOX offense has a 25% strike out rate, which is 5th highest in MLB.

The strike out rate isn't surprising; in fact I thought it was higher. That it's only 5th highest in MLB, now that's surprising.

Cole only gets stronger i feel as the game goes on.

Finally. Winck got the call on pitch 4, but then he got royally screwed on pitch 6.

So far, just as last night, the homeplate umps are giving the Yankees pitchers the calls.

Winck is losing it. Yes, that bad call, but then a walk followed by an almost walk that turned into a single on a pitch right down the middle.
