K's Trout twice but lefty Angels bats are getting to Houck. Lucky to have given up just 1 run.

Barria's max innings, season to date, is 4. But what he is doing is effective.

Barria is going to get more calls than Houck because his pitches are right around the strike zone or in it. Three innings: easy peasy. Sox are befuddled.

The SOX aren't exactly overworking him.

I wouldn't be that sad if the SOX finished 5-4 on this road trip. I'd be much happier with a better record, but 5-4 appears doable.

I take it your expectations are not as high. This division is pretty tough as they say but the blue jays have come back down to earth. Interesting to see if the orioles will as well.

I don't care about the road trip. I care about the game right in front of me.

Suddenly Houck has two well-earned K's on Trout and Ohtani. No fastballs.

My expectations are never high on west coast trips.

So far we are seeing why Barria has an ERA below 2. He relies heavily on the slider and changeup--for good reason. 2d time thru the Sox lineup looks just as easy as the first time was.

Would be nice if this offense woke the f*** up.

As if the Angels pitcher had nothing to do with their inability to hit. They're definitely awake and very frustrated.

No pitch count for that HOF'r.

Not a hard thrower by any definition (I remember reading his fastball was timed with a calendar) but fantastic control.

Of course, after three years of facing the German Army, major league hitters probably didn’t seem too scary.

Good point. Going from life or death to win or loss is a big difference.
