That was a statement 9th inning by the Rays last night and they have followed that up with a statement game today.

Agree.

The Rays are so tough.

They are no fluke. To those who thought last year’s short season success was not sustainable, think again.

Also agree.

The Rays have such a great organizaton that they can lose their best starting pitcher(Glasnow) in June and still not lose a beat.

They even traded last years best pitcher, too!

Well I definitely DID NOT jinx the Rays and there 7th inning on magic. Christ they even stuffed the 6th inning down my throat.

And they do it for a lot less money/salaries than the Sox.

When their pitchers or everyday players get too expensive, the Rays' FO sends them on their way. Then they go to their fabulous farm and bring up some new crops.

I hate to say it but when you are sitting at Fenway for a game like this (which I am not) you feel how much better the opponent is than the home 9 much more distinctly.

Its like "Holy f***, we can't play with these guys".

A lot of their best young players are acquired by trade not by draft.

This comparative stat should demonstrate the importance of timely hitting.

SOX= .259 team BA 575 runs.

Rays= .236 team BA 586 runs.

These numbers are as of this morning.

True. They're acquired by trade when the Rays get rid of their players who will be too expensive.

Eck saying Sheriff has to nibble even with a 7 run lead.

Are you saying that today's pitchers cannot simply play to the big part of the ballpark even with a 7 run lead and just let the hitters hit themselves into outs? Is that what you are saying Eck?

Isn't that what Valdez did in the 9th last night, except the hitters weren't hitting into outs, and he gave up 7 runs.

mostly, yes, but Snell was not expensive, but they somehow knew it was the exact right time to move him.

Valdez choked. Hard to do with what....a 19 run lead especially since he can actually throw the damned ball. He might seek the aid of a sports psychiatrist.

I don't remember many plain old lazy fly balls to CF or Right, the big parts of Fenway.

Heck today's hitters are already trying to get the ball in the air. Should not be that hard with 7 runs to play with.

Truth is, Valdez made Eck's point a day before he made it. Apparently THEY CAN'T do it.

Plawecki is getting a lot more starts, answering the calls of many Talksox posters.

The paternity leave thing is great, but Dugo's seems to have been the longest one ever.

At least he didn’t stay for the first birthday

Vaz is on bereavement leave. It was announced about an hour before last night’s game. Nothing was said about the reason or how long he’ll be gone. It’s why Wong was able to come in and play late in yesterday’s game.
we should have been entitled to Bereavement Leave when Vaz runs the bases.

Tied in the loss column with NYY & TOR.

Often its not the games back that kills you. Its the number of teams you have to pass to get back on top. If we fall behind NY or Toronto or both, we are in bad shape.

Right now, we don’t have to pass anyone, we head into a somewhat easy portion of our schedule and we are set to get a few key pieces back from injuries. Let’s see where we are in a couple weeks.

The White Sox beat the Yankems on a walkoff HR by Tim Anderson after SOX closer Hendricks s*** the bed in the top of the 9th. Btw, after the game at Field of Dreams field, none of the dead baseball legends appeared, but,instead, the Children of the Corn turned up and scared most of the attendees to death.

I thought I heard during the game that the ticket price for this game was $3,000.00.

There was a rumor spreading that a farmer offered Brian Cash a million dollars to purchase Judge. The farmer's plow horse had died and he wanted to use Judge to replace the dead horse.

Bloom’s judgment has to be called into question regarding the bullpen arms he acquired. These were not additions. They are negatives who have hurt the team. Robles has always been a bum and Davis is a complete nonentity. I’d have preferred to stick it out with Workman. These bums were not an improvement and anyone familiar with Workman and Robles should have known that.

The Sox radio guys said this also and flat out stated that Robles shouldn’t be on the team.
